as much as the city has rallied around the cavaliers and browns, the fact remains that cleveland is still a FOOTBALL town.

if the browns ever made it deep into the playoffs, the city would be damn insane.

alas, they are still lagging behind the other two professional sports franchises in the city. and ohio state has a ton of alumni and a recruiting pipeline to the cleveland area, specifically the catholic schools and the urban east side.

cleveland is on the upswing, but as crazy as it sounds the fans would rather have an ok basketball team, and ok baseball team, and a GREAT football team.

only someone who doesnt know much about basketball would call boston the favorite.. how did it work for the lakers when they went out and scooped up aging all stars.. kevin garnett is a 7 foot jump shooter and Ray will sprain his ankle atleast 3 times.

you summed it up in one word (and just two letters).

there is no doubt that the patriots and red sox are perennial powers and deserve all the credit given to them.

but seriously, i just dont see how boston is going to crack the top 4 in the east. unless maybe the rules of basketball changed at it became a 3-on-3 halfcourt game.

Yes... Times are good for Boston fans...

Except for the fact that Papi is talking about
quiting the playoffs due to his knee....

CLEVELAND -- David Ortiz almost quit the ALCS between Boston and Cleveland due to an injured knee, the Dominican slugger told ESPNdeportes.com on Monday.

"After Saturday's game, my right knee was so swollen that I feared I wouldn't play again for the rest of the series," Ortiz said before Game 3 on Monday night at Jacobs Field in Cleveland.
"I spent Sunday in bed, taking medications. It looked really bad," Ortiz said.

Ortiz indicated that he will undergo surgery as soon as the season is over. He has taken a cortisone shot in order to be able to make it through the ALCS, but would rather not face the needle again for the World Series.
"I'm a very traditional man. I'd rather drink some tea than take cortisone," Ortiz joked.

This season has been injury-plagued for Ortiz, who has dealt with back and shoulder problems. Still, he managed to hit .332 with 35 home runs, 52 doubles, 117 RBIs, 116 runs scored and 111 walks.
In the division series against the Los Angeles Angels, he went 5-for-7 with two home runs. He drove in three runs and walked six times to help the Red Sox sweep in three games.
Going into Monday's game, Ortiz had reached base 18 out of 23 times in the postseason and equaled an all-time record by getting on base 10 consecutive times between Game 3 of the division series and Game 2 of the ALCS.
So he's trying to fight through the injury.
"When one has been playing this game for a long time, you learn to deal with pain," Ortiz said. "This is no time for crying. But I really want this season to be over to undergo knee surgery."

And I thought the Patriots played for New England, not Boston, in Foxborough, 33 miles from Boston (according to google maps)

Let's put it this way, I live in New England and New York City is closer to me than Columbus is to Cleveland.
