I have ordered Dan Gordon's "Beat the Sports Books: An Insider's Guide to betting the NFL". It should be coming tomorrow. I'll let you know how it is.
IN general most sports handicapping books are full of fluff. I've found reading around forums like this is the best way to get good (and accurate) information.

Dan Gordons book is good - I found Kevin O'Neills two books, "Cutting Edge" and "Strategies for the Smart Player" to be about the best. I've also read McCune, Miller, Kelso/Feist, Stanford Wong, Mendehlson and a host of others. I found most of them offering me something new and usable, or refining my understanding of a theory layed out elsewhere, so I've tried to read them all.
For Annuals, I strongly suggest Al O'Donnell's "Point Spread playbook" and Northtcoatst annual playbook (the playbook, not any of the mags).
There are a host of great weekly's out there; I think you have to go through them to find out which of them are most closely taylored to your needs.
