Some may already know this but I didn't realize it until I called around this morning. Instead of paying they are doing other things to stay open, and no I won't mention the books or the new sites they are using. Just logged in at one and everything is exactly the same as the old one. "We'll shut the doors before we pay one nickle" a book told me this morning. "They attack that one we'll open a new one and so on". It's not like they are just sitting around twiddling their thumbs. Bookies by nature are a resilent bunch and I expect a drawn out war before some just hand over $30,000.

One last thing, while I am glad some haven't paid the extortion fee and I support them to no end, not sure it is fair to tar and feather the others. Some players were talking of a boycott of certain books if they find out who paid. I certainly don't trust the hackers but if 90% of your business is over the net it is tough to close the site down. I guess I am saying it is easy to judge where we sit but may be another story when all the facts are presented later. As always the RX will have the breaking news. Stay tuned.

These hackers (cowards/slimeballs) are in for a very rude awakening in the not so distant future if they continue with this. Their little game is going to cause them some major mishaps.

Thanks for the update PM!

its definetly tough to just let your site get shut down if most of your business is via the internet, but if nobody ever paid the hackers probably wouldnt still be doing this....

Bookies are now more associated with math wizzes than with mob types. My guess is all sites including gaming sites will update technology to make them immune to things like this.... for now.

Senator Kyl got tired of waiting for legislation to pass and hired the hackers, lol.

If most of your business is over the internet, then you should be spending your money getting anti-DOS technology (not handing it over to hackers).

Not every book wins every day or week. Getting closed down by the hackers for a few days may or may not have cost you money. However, paying them, without any guarantees or getting protection from the next hacker is just throwing the money away.

Hollywood bit the bullet for the long-term solution. The books that paid didn't really buy themselves anything except a little time.

I think more books will be more protected in the future because of these unfortunate happenings.
