A First time offense for Bookmaking in Rhode Island is a lousy 500$ fine and a possible one yer sentence,lol. This seems worth it to me. More books should deal in Rhode Island then. Get caught in Jersey and see what your sentence will be, guaranteed jail time. Feds re into busting up operations this time of year (BASEBALL PLAYOFFS) and the way the playoffs were yesterday, I bet some books were wishing they were busted yesterday. Nobody should've lost yesterday except the books.

Just hope you are well into the black when arrested and those funds are well dispersed as if you have a house and family, the bills could really suffer while you sit in jail with no income.

All over the US there are small time bookies operating that while breaking the law, are not really criminals. I mean many are just bettors turned bookie with no other criminal record and in most states if they remain under the radar law enforcement will leave them alone. Get to big and things could change fast. I am not advising anyone to start making illeagal book, just saying that in many areas police have much bigger fish to fry. Rhode Island is very typical, every town has several small bookies operating out of bars or golf courses, all credit type locals.
