Milwaukee +1.16 over Chicago

Not often are we going to get a price on the Brewer’s Ben Sheets and when it’s offered it has to be looked at. So, what we have here are the 13-7 Brewers that have won five in a row playing the 7-13 Cubbies that own a 3-9 record at Wrigley. The Cubs are doing a horrible job cashing in runners and they’ll be facing one of the best right-handers in the game in Ben Sheets. Sure, Ted Lilly is pitching absolutely brilliantly in a Cubs uniform but he’s just not that dominant a pitcher. Don’t get us wrong, Lilly is extremely valuable because he’s a lefty, he’s consistent and he wins games. However, this isn't about playing against Lilly, it’s about playing hot vs cold with their ace going and getting a tag. Play: Milwaukee +1.16 (Risking 2 units).

Washington +1.67 over Philadelphia

Jon Lieber came out of the pen for a spot start and proceeded to dominate the Cincinnati Reds for 5.1 innings before he ran out of gas and was yanked without giving up a run. The chances of Lieber dominating anyone again are about the same chance of Ozzy Osbourne’s kids turning out normal. Philly is warming up and offensively they can be deadly, however, Lieber should never be this big a price over anyone at anytime ever again. John Patterson is the Nationals ace and that might not be saying much but give me Patterson, or anyone else for that matter, at a price like this against Lieber and you can pencil us in. Overlay. Play: Washington +1.67 (Risking 2 units).

San Francisco +1.30 over LA

Lefty, lefty match-up sees the Dodgers Randy Wolf facing off against the Giants Noah Lowry. Both pitchers have been rock solid this season but the difference here is that the Giants are hot and against lefties they’re 4-1. The Dodgers are just 3-3 against lefties. Those two facts alone has us leaning to the visitor. Play: San Francisco +1.30 (Risking 2 units).

At 9:40pm our selection is on the San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks 'under' the total. With Chris Carpenter on the DL, this matchup between the Padres' righty Jake Peavy and the D-Backs righty and defending National League Cy Young award winner, Brandon Webb is arguably between the two best active starters in the National League. Peavy appears back to the form he was in two years ago and his performance so far in 2007 has been outstanding with a 3-0 record, while the Padres have won all 4 of his starts to date. Meanwhile Webb, while not quite the statistical eye-opener that Peavy has been, has been solid up to this point. And Webb turned in by far his best performance in his last start against this same Padre team in which he went 8 innings, giving up only 1 earned run, while striking out a career-high 13. In the unlikely event that either of these studs does not bring his best stuff to the mound tonight, both Peavy or Webb can turn the ball over to one of the best bullpens in the Major Leagues. Take the 'under'. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.

BOS: RHP Curt Schilling (2-1, 3.81 ERA) vs. BAL: RHP Daniel Cabrera (1-1, 4.10 ERA)

The Red Sox travel to Camden Yards on Wednesday, a day after dropping two games in a row at home against the Blue Jays. This is a good opponent for Boston to break out of their funk as Baltimore has lost this series in four of the last five seasons and owns a 36-57 record against Boston since the dawn of the 2002 season. Last year was especially brutal, as the Red Sox beat the Orioles 15 times in 18 games. The O's are just 20-48 against Boston at Camden Yards since the beginning of the 1999 campaign. Boston will also be sending their ace, Curt Schilling to the mound. Schilling use to own one of baseballs top fastballs but now, the 40-year-old starter succeeds more on control and command of his other pitches setting opponents up with his fastball. Schilling's first start in 2007 was horrible, but he's pulled his ERA down to 3.81 and he's backed by a team that is averaging 5.2 runs per game over the last 10 days. Schilling has a 5-4 record with a 4.00 ERA in 69 2/3 innings overall against Baltimore, but he has allowed no more than one home run to any current Oriole lineup. Boston will have the luxury of facing hard throwing right-hander Daniel Cabrera. Many who followed me know I have gone with Cabrera and won on my last selection, but this is a horrible matchup for him. The right-hander is only 1-6 in his career against the Red Sox (9.27 era) and his ERA over his last two starts is climbing (5.40), as well as his batting average against has leapt to .277. Last season, Cabrera walked a staggering 5.34 batters per nine innings, but his batting average against was much lower (241 last season). So its pick your poison with this Boston Lineup, which is among one of the league's most patient teams. Whether its his .277 BAA or his 5.34 walks per nine innings the Red Sox are going to have a lot of base runners. Basically, we've got the better team, the better pitcher and a very reasonable price, so jump on the road favorite in this one.

Verdict: Boston 9, Baltimore 4

PLAY 1* UNIT ON BOSTON -$125

HOU: RHP Matt Albers (0-0, 3.00) vs. PIT: LHP Zach Duke (1-2, 9.00)

After recovering from an 0-4 start to climb three games above .500, the Astros find themselves back below the break-even point after dropping four straight. The Astros have a history of success against the Pirates (they won 13 of 16 in head to head play +$985), but not this year. After suffering a season-opening sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh, at Minute Maid Park, Houston is now also 0-4 versus Pittsburgh! Now it will be up to rookie Matt Albers to stop the bleeding. Albers was impressive in his first appearance of the 2007 season, throwing six innings and allowing two runs on six hits in the Astros' 6-5 victory on Friday night. Meanwhile, his counterpart, left-hander Zach Duke has had two subpar outings, giving up 14 runs in only six innings of work. With an ERA now up to 9.00, and a 0-3 lifetime record against Houston, Duke has his work cut out for him. Although the Houston offensive has yet to come alive, they should have some success against Duke. Craig Biggiohas five hits in 12 at-bats against Duke for a .417 average, while the always dangerous Carlos Lee has five hits in 16 at-bats (.313) against the lefty. With Pittsburgh recent domination were getting a fantastic price on the visitor. Things always have a way of evening themselves out in the long baseball season so look for Houston to get the win tonight.

Verdict: Houston 7, Pittsburgh 4

Larry Ness' Las Vegas Insider-MLB

My Las Vegas Insider is on the LA Dodgers at 10:10 ET. I've never been a big Randy Wolf fan, although when healthy, he did win 48 games for the Phillies from 2000-03. However, he's sure looked sharp for the Dodgers in the early going of '07, as he's pitched six innings in each of his first four starts this year. After allowing four ERs in his first outing, he's allowed a total of just five ERs over his last three (2.50 ERA), striking out 20 while walking just five. He should match up well with the Giants, who were just 5-15 vs lefties on the road last year, plus is shouldn't hurt his confidence any that Barry is just 3-of-17 in his career vs Wolf! The Giants come in on a roll, beating the Dodgers last night 5-3, giving the team MLB's longest active winning streak at six straight. However, let's not forget, the Dodgers had beaten the Giants in 12 of the previous 13 meetings. Going for San Fran is lefty Noah Lowry. Lowry came on the scene in 2004 and over the last three years has been a solid pitcher at home but a shaky one on the road. Entering this year his home ERA was 3.28 but his road ERA was 5.21. True to form, he's allowed just three ERs in two home starts this year (1.93 ERA) and in one road start, allowed four ERs in six innings, for a 6.00 ERA. Las Vegas Insider LA Dodgers.

Sorry about missing the service plays that you now see on my last post....BB and I posted at the exact same time on his NBA thread and I did not see that batch of plays until just now.

Some of them were repeated earlier....but I apologize about any new ones that may have pertained to early games tonight.

JUST WANTED TO SAY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR TIME AND EFFORT!!!! sds23 & bookie buster.

I hope that you have been able to wade through all this, sort fact from fiction and pick up a few wins along the way. Thanks for commenting Thirsty. The service plays are here thanks to Bookie Buster. I'm just reposting the baseball portions of the plays here in this forum until the NBA season is over (at which point BB will post them here) and doing some tracking on spreadsheets.

BOL with your own plays.
