Guaranteed Pick: Scott Spreitzer
Game: Baltimore Orioles at Seattle Mariners Jul 18 2007 10:05PM
Prediction: Seattle Mariners
Reason: I'm playing the Mariners on Wednesday night. If you're looking to make a play on Washburn, do it at night. The Seattle southpaw is 7-3 in 13 night-time starts with a 2.83 ERA & 1.28 WHIP. The Mariners have cashed 9 of those 13 tickets. This Seattle squad is 18-7 in 25 games against lefties, including a sizzling 7-2 mark at home, averaging 6.2 RPG. That's bad news for Oriole's staff ace Eric Bedard. The lefty has put up strong numbers for the most part this season, but he's terrible (1-3, 5.46 ERA) against the Mariners in five career starts. His numbers are even worse at Safeco. In four starts in this venue, Bedard has allowed 15 earned runs and 36 base runners in 22 2/3 IP. That adds up to a 5.96 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. Seattle beat the O's, 7-4, back in early June. Bedard received a no decision. The O's are just 14-27 in 41 tries against teams with a winning record and they're 7-13 against the AL West. In fact, they've dropped three of four against this division with Bedard on the bump. Meanwhile, Seattle has lost back-to-back home games just twice this season. It's been two months since it last happened. Look for Seattle to pick up the win with a very nice price on the home team. We'll back the Mariners, our Line Error GOM on Wednesday
