Bonds is a great player but how does a guy miss 32 games and still win MVP?...Pujols' numbers were awesome to say the least and he was there day in and day out...Bonds played on a better team and the Giants made the playoffs but were quickly eliminated..is a guy most "valuable" if he misses 32 games and his team makes the playoffs anyway?..Pujols got robbed; I'll bet half the sportswriters that voted for Bonds don't even know who Pujols is.

Valid argument but I do not follow bases much.

minus 32 sounds weak. Is is apart of Bonds contract to have so many days off?

they already robbed Bonds of an earlier MVP (Terry Pendelton!!) this was such a no brainer Im glad it was a runaway. Face it we are watching a player more special than even Mays, Bonds should be in the top 5 in the next Century Athlete that ESPN XXV will have!

Isn't the production that much more impressive without the 32 games thrown in??? Not to mention Pujols isn't feared and he doesn't change game plans and the way pitchers pitch to 2 or 3 batters before he comes up. And most of all, they actually pitch to Pujols, Bonds is a no brainer they pitch 4 wide ones to him whenever he could cause any serious trouble.

Lets assess what MVP means! Most valuable player, in that context it makes it much easier to comprehend why Bonds won. He , more than any player I have ever seen changes the complexion of ,not only, his on team but the game he is involved in. Every manager fears Bonds, he gets more respect and deserves more respect than any player I have ever watched. He wins games by just being on the field and in the line-up. That is an MVP!

By the way he missed many games because his Dad was very ill with cancer and as we know past away. Moreover, to have the season he had with his Dad in that condition is tremedous, extraordinary, a season to be remembered and respected.

I am glad he won , he deserves it!

Pujols deserved the MVP the last two years. Bonds is a great player but what Pujols has accomplished in his first 3 years in the league is unbelievable. The arguement that a player should be on a playoff team is crap after Rodriguez won AL MVP. Where would Cardinals have been without Pujols? 15 to 20 games below .500. Bonds missed 32 games and Giants still won going away. The wrong man won the award!

Wow! There is actually people that think a player who slumped during the homestretch on a team that tanked and finished in the middle of the pack deserves the M"VALUABLE"P Award? Without Bonds the Giants would have finished below .500. Without Pujols the Cards would have finished in the middle of the pack. Wait a minute, the Cards finished in the middle of the pack WITH Pujols. Case closed.

General, Bonds missed most of those games at his fathers death bed, and then later in the season to bury his father.

Bonds deserved all 32 first place votes.
Its not even close. I can't believe people think Pujols deserved the MVP. How about slugging and on base percentage? Its not even close. Bonds is on another planet. One of the top 3 players of all time. Very few pitchers are scared of Albert. Every pitcher is scared $hitless when Barry steps into the box.

Sports writers shouldn't decide these awards. They're incompetent. Leave it to the GM's.
By the way, Delgado was robbed.

So where do you draw the line with Bonds' inactivity..what if he missed 50 or 60 games..is he still most valuable over the course of the entire season? What if Jason Schmidt was pitching for the Cardinals instead of the Giants all season and the Cards make the playoffs and the Giants don't; does that make Pujols season better or more "valuable" because his team made the playoffs?..I just don't buy the argument that a guy that misses 1/5th of the season is somehow a landslide, runaway, most valuable player in the league.

The games Bonds missed the Giants had a losing record. One baseball writer said it best, Pujols has the misfortune of playing in the Bonds era.

actually...i doubt you even watch the 1st round SF games.... if jose cruz (mother ****er) did not commit a killer error near the end, SF would have easily beaten Marlins and went on to win the championship.....

pitchers are afraid of bonds, but they ain't afraid of pujos. just this factor, bonds gets my vote for MVP
