Im not even a Barry Bonds fan, i just appreciate the history of breaking the record. Barry has been the best player in the game since the late 80's so to say he is only where he is today because of steroid use is ignorant. No one since Babe Ruth has comanded the respect of opposing pitchers and coaches like Bonds. Even when he is going bad at the plate he is still on base twice a game! And as far as him cheating there are two areas that have to be considered: 1- The game is dirty, way more than most of the public cares to realize. Look at the list of great hitters and pitchers that have fallen to average since the testing began. Hard to only blame Bonds for the mistake of the majority of his peers.
2- There is no proof he even did it. Don't get me wrong im not saying he didn't, in fact i believe he did, but you cant persecute someone because you think he did.
Cheating is doing something to makes the game an un-level playing field. By Bonds juicing he was giving himself the same chance at success as all the other stars in the game. Again i dont condone it, just the reality of the game in my opinion.
