Lets hope the "betting masses" push this line to 7 or above. Denver's defense is nasty, look how they controlled Brady for 90% of the game in a manner he had not been controlled in a playoff game.

If this line gets to 7 or above, well worth putting a significant bet on Denver and the ML.

Also, check out the very strong language being used by Carolina bettors in this forum, they are convinced the game is over based on an inflated record versus a very week schedule and recency effect of Panthers' destruction versus a lost Carson Palmer.

Go back and pull up threads from the Seattle-Broncos Super Bowl a couple years ago, the Carolina bettors sound a lot like the Bronco bettors that year.

Additionally, you think the NFL wants "Golden Boy" Peyton Manning to ride of into the sunset with a poor showing in his last game, c'mon man...

Your first point only takes into account Denver's defense, nothing else about the other MANY aspects of this SB game. And Brady has been controlled like that before, and the Patriots have lost plenty of big games and playoff games, but they're just better at it the other teams.

If it hits 7, then the books are going to be worried (too much middle). But it will indicate that the large bettors, not just the public believes that Carolina covers. If you like Denver, it's a great spread, and I'd wait like you said.

Your 3rd point is way off. Carolina is anything but overrated. It is VERY difficult in the NFL to go 15-1, and then beat the pants off of 2 teams like Seattle and Arizona. There are many of us who think Seattle and Arizona would beat Denver in a playoff game.

As for Peyton finishing his career looking bad, do you think the Carolina defense cares AT ALL about that? Two years ago he was supposed to ride off into the sunset with a SB victory vs. Seattle, and we all know how that ended. I would be a lot more confident with a younger, better Peyton Manning than one "who the NFL wants to look good in his final game."

O Fred. When I analyze a matchup I turn to the defense first, and I'd be curious what specific game you can cite Brady being controlled like he was against Denver last weekend.

Go back and look at Carolina's schedule, not impressive.

Seattle and Arizona wins in the playoffs were nice, at home.

My last point has nothing to do with the Carolina defense, but rather outside factors than can influence the outcome of the game, and a specific number.

You appear to be pretty confident in your pay on Carolina, what number are you playing it at? I haven't placed a bet yet, well the title of the thread explains why...

I'm with you about being impressed with Denver's defense in the NE game. I just think part of that was based on NE's lack of running game, so-so OL, and the banged up receiving corps. That being said, I still think Denver has a small edge defensively over Carolina. But you have to consider the offenses they're facing in this SB, and that's where Carolina has the big advantage.

I also think Brady and Belichick are incredible considering their decade long dynasty of winning super bowls and making the playoffs. But Brady played poorly this year vs. both Philly and Miami, lost to Denver 2 years ago in the playoff, lost to Baltimore 3 years ago in the playoffs, 2 losses in the SB to the Giants, lost to the Jets about 2010 in the playoffs…. the Patriots CAN and HAVE been beaten before in big games- plenty of times.

I agree that Carolina's schedule wasn't as tough as Denver's, but the NFL is not like the NCAA. Parity makes every game a war. And Carolina beat Green Bay, Seattle, Washington, and Houston- 4 playoff teams. They also won half of their regular season games by 10 or more points. It's that kind of domination that makes me like Carolina.

I got Carolina at -4.5 and -3 for the 1H, but if you like Denver, I'd wait. You'll get at least 6, maybe 6.5. I may be confident in Carolina covering, but that doesn't mean I can't lose.
