BoDog and the old Starnet affilated sportsbooks don't accept Canadian accounts. Anyone have the scoop on this?
If they're licensed offshore and accept the bets on their servers offshore, what's the problem? I understand they have some software and marketing ties to Canada, but if it's illegal for Canadians for whatever reason, then it's illegal no matter where you're from. Do they have sweetheart deals with the RCMP?
And while I'm at it, how the **** does Spiro get away with using the name Olympic Sports for his sportsbook. Usually the IOC is very aggressive in protecting their trademark. I called the Jamaican consulate in Toronto and they told me that Jamaica doesn't license internet gaming... the person I spoke with sounded very sheepish when I mentioned Olympic Sports.
Will North American governments ever adopt a mature attitude towards regulating internet gaming? Surely it's the best solution to shutting down the offshore books (many of which are owned and operated by criminals...old school bookies, the mob, etc.) and keeping the gambling revenues here.
