From the always reliable 911..

quote:
10.20.03 (1:39 pm EST) - BoDog never had any technical problems this weekend. They were the subject of the largest DDoS (distributed denial of service) and most sustained (three days) attack their Network backbone providers have ever seen. Once again they successfully fought it off and most of their players got their plays in before games went off. While others in the industry have chosen to pay the attackers to make them go away (for a while) BoDog thinks using this as an opportunity to strengthen their defences against these attacks is a better long term investment. It is 911s personal opinion that it is bad for the industry as a whole to ever pay these guys, this will never stop by paying. The ransom notes themselves even mention that this person is only going to stop for 12 months so any book that pays now has a revenue
sharing partner. Plus as news of getting paid starts to leak out there is nothing stopping others from trying the same thing. The only solution is for no one to pay.
