All I want to know is if they mailed out invitations to the DOJ for their Las Vegas Conference in July. I think a good one would have been of the cheerleaders on the sidelines postcard entitled; NOT YOUR FATHERS SPORTSBOOK. :lolBIG:

nice Read Shrink.. thank you but this sentence

They believe they can give Party Poker a run for their money soon....

I do not beleive that will even come close to happening unless partypoker goes into the tank..

With their 20% deposit & reload bonuses and their 40% referral bonuses, they're sure as hell making a run for it. That covers a LOT of rake!!!!!

I have to admit, they are visionary. I see no limit, excuse the pun, for growth of the poker industry. Us old timer sport bettors just have to stick it out a few more years. Poker is the future. Took a wrong turn in that area. But I just do not have the personality for it. I know my limitations, and sports is the fit for me. With the right marketing, something BoDog has demostrated an aptitude for, they could gain enough market share to have the rake exceed their take in sports side. Forget the online casino, the poker room is the must have business.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

well I guess someone has to not be scared to do it and take steps toward helping to regulate it

I like there fighting spirit in that regard...they advertise a TON in the states to maybe the more this happens the closer we get to regulation

All Calvin is doing is taking a step towards federal prison. Couple more of these and other "run-ins" on U.S. soil and Calvin will be getting 3 free squares a day.......

Lakerfan,

I was not suggesting that Bodog has the best linesmaker in the industry. I believe you misinterpreted this or I could have stated it clearer. Apparently, someone else understood what I meant beneath your response.

It is Bodog's VISION and MARKETING skills that are largely responsible for their SUCCESS today...

Now as far as them landing in prison, forget about it. Unlike the United States, CANADA has a much friendlier attitude with regards to gambling. And if you don't think that Calvin has covered himself completely in all legal aspects, then I suggest you are UNDERESTIMATING this icon...

All along, I thought the owner was an American, for some reason. Did not know he was a Canadian.
The Casino has foreign Dignatary holding a gaming conference on their property.
The suits must have charged him one pretty penny...or on the other hand...??

Only time will tell Shrink..........I don't have anything personally against the guy (and I do play at Bodog). But many a man has underestimated the feds, and they have a nice cell to prove it. GL to him.

I'm not any legal expert, but could the Casino property where he is holding the conference be charged with what they call..." Adeing and Abetting". Not even sure what that means exactly....but like Roger says above....
Guess he knows what he's doing...
This country has selected enforcement of whatever they do daily has become my interpretation of most of these type laws.

Rog,

I think your feedback is excellent and I value your opinion. Knowing Bodog as well as I THINK I do, rather than Bodog underestimating the feds, I believe you could have worded it differently....

If the Feds wanted to indict a Peanut butter and Jelly sandwich, they could do so...

Whoson1st,

I also thaink I see where you are coming from. Aiding and Abetting is so BROAD and allows the government free reign over virtually any offshore/online gambling establishment...

Now with all of this being said, it appears to me that the attitude of the U.S government is starting to change and I see the pendulum slowly starting to move in our direction...

And that's not because they want it to, but rather, the whole basis of their morality argument gets torn so shreds with all of their exceptions (Horse Racing, Lotteries, Poker)...

As always, time will tell...

Kiss,

Which do you think is more valuable to their business? A person with your opinion or someone who has never heard of them?

Is the Mandalay Bay and Conference Center in Vegas (also) a casino or strictly some type of other building alltogether with no hotel?

If it's a hotel---I can see the sign in the lobby now---directing it's attendees to where the conference room is located. (most hotels do that).
If a casino----I can imagine more than a few comments of those that would see the sign....... I have no idea. And Yes...I figured the "A and A" law was VERYYYYYY broad.

A person with my opinion.

Do you think more people have heard of "BetonSports" or "BoDoggie" ?

A year or so ago, the correct response would have been a no brainer in favor of BetonSports...

I believe that a marketing NIGHTMARE for them was using the former name of NASA for many years and then switching to BetonSports. The whole process from the onset was confusing to begin with due to another book, and former partner, having the name of NASA as well...

Today, however, I also believe that more people have heard of BODOG or more importantly, they REMEMBER Bodog because it is a better name than BetonSports...

I remember speaking to Calvin about all of the thought process that went into going with a kind of a misnomer...

But hey, the bottom line is that Bodog STICKS with me much more so than another bookmaker using the word bet and sports in their name...

My 2 cents...
