163 HR

Us Met fans know his name, Blue. He's the one we gave away to the O's 4 years ago so that we could rent Mike Bordick for 3 months.

Abreu is one of the few great moves by the Phils the last twenty plus years, and is a steal via Houston due to the Stros once sitting on Hidalgo,etc..

Would love to see the Phils build around BA, Rollins, Pat The Bat, Utley, Howard, Michaels, Tejeda, Madson, and Wagner, but scrap most else after the season.

Bell and Thome, due to salary and age must be moved..also GM Ed Wade.

Loretta is desperately missed by the Pads this year, and the Nat's Wilkerson is a doubles machine!

Bobby Abreu is not underrated. He is the man when the score is 8-1, or 6-0. Get him in the clutch and the guy is awful. He ends up with good #'s but many of his HR's and RBI's come in meaningless situations. The guy is also so lazy in the outfield that he becomes a liability. The local sports radio guy loves bashing Abreu because he is jelly in the clutch. I remember at least 5 games this year when he was the tying run or go ahead run in the 9th and he either struck out or grounded out to the pitcher to end the game.

… Abreu’s double was his 546th, one shy of Manny Ramirez for 25th place on the career list.

HAPPY TRAILS BOBBY'

After announcing Friday that he planned to retire when the season was over, the 40-year-old Abreu received his first start Sunday since July 25. He got a standing ovation from the crowd of 34,897 following his 2,470th career hit and teared up as he doffed his helmet.

Altuve, a fellow Venezuelan, tossed the souvenir ball to Abreu at first base and sidled over for a warm handshake. A choked-up Abreu hugged pinch-runner Eric Young Jr. and headed to the dugout.
''I feel really good for him. He's one of the best players from Venezuela. He played 18 years in the big leagues and he had a really good career,'' Altuve said.
Abreu leads all active players with 574 doubles and 1,476 walks.

''Just enjoying the moment,'' he said after the game, still in uniform.

stupid question but Abreu isn't gonna make the HOF is he? haven't followed baseball closely for a bit but like 8 years ago I remember a friend and I arguing about this and he said he was.

His career #s do look stacked
