Why hire the old guy who is clearly bored with his current job. Go get a young guy that wants to recruit and build a dynasty. Then again, the UGA arena is like a morgue so hiring the General makes sense.

Knight would "shake-up" Athens and the SEC culture as well.

He may know the game but "time" has probably passed him by.

Knight clearly wants a challenge. You must be kidding about hireing a younger guy for recruiting. Who would go play for some young kid over Bob Knight?

It would be good for Georgia, give them some attention on a national level.

First off, I am a great Bobby Knight fan. What AD is going to put his job
on the line for a guy that will tell him to go f#@* himself. Bob Knight is
a great coach, teacher and motivator but I think his time has passed.
Kids today want to run up and down the floor and play fastpaced
basketball. Bob Knight can't recruit that type of kid. They are going
to go to the Uconns, North Carolina's and those types of teams.
He could not get top recruits in his last few years at Indiana and also
at Texas Tech. "One and Done" kids are not going to go play that type of basketball for him. They are going somewhere where they can showcase
their talent and move on to the NBA.
That is the way I feel about him. He has great knowledge of the game
the way its supposed to be played. He just can't attract todays top
HS players. The only way he got the Texas Tech job was that his
friend was the AD and he towed the line so his friend wouldn't lose
his job as AD. To me he will always be one of the greatest coaches
of all time. His record speaks for itself.
Just my humble opinion.

Knight, briefly, went in the "furniture" business; when you bought a soffa from him he "threw in" a chair.

He is a fiesty guy.

bobby knight is the best teacher in cbb history...his kids are not only successful basketball players but they are successful in life...and they graduate!!! nobody has a better graduation rate then the coach...that is whats important...he may not win a championship and have the best players...but his program would be something i would send my kid too any day of the week over some of the top programs in america...

i don't think Bobby can get it done anymore. Sure they probably could do better than they are now, and have the 20-10 type years, but they still won't get out of the 2nd round of the NCAA if they make it. Just look at his last few years at Texas Tech. Knight is set in his and recruits his type of players. He doesn't go after the high impact recruits that change programs. I think Georgia would be making a mistake going after Knight. I would want a young, up and coming coach, who can bring in today's athlete. The SEC is there for the taken, and if they can get the right guy in there they could separate themselves.

he doesnt get recruits because when players come to play for knight they dont get paid and cars bought for them...and that is the only reason why he cant recruit top players...he runs a clean program unlike any program today...that is why the times have passed him by...players today recieve all kinds of under the table gifts and money...and you know its true!!!

I wouldn't want to play for Knight over Coach K or Roy either. First off I wouldn't need to get screamed at or hit if he gets pissed off. If I could play at any school I would go to USC...Great spot to live and good program with a good coach.

agreed 100%.

players for the most part imo would not want to play with knight. i think he is the greatest coach of all time and is probably the smartest basketball guy you could possibly be coached by. players still would not to play for him because a lot of these guys do not want to screamed at. too much ego to play under knight. players like to be babied a lot of the time and knight doesn't do that.

knight is an amazing coach, but if im an AD no way i higher him unless its for the publicity. he will not generate a championship program in todays game

if knight did all the shady shit every other top program did...which he would never do...he would have a top 10 team every year...give him a week of prep and he would beat any coach out there today...the worst thing indiana ever did was get rid of knight....remember the team he built went to the nat'l championship game the year after he left...so you cant say he still cant build a team capable of winning the title...if he was coaching that game instead of mike davis they would have won that year...and i have no doubts about that!!!

todays kids lack the discipline and that is why they cant hack it playing for him...if only kids today could appreciate the opportunity they had to play for him...

Hello, my name is John Wooden. I'm from Indiana, and I coach basketball and teach young men as well. You've probably never heard of me, but I've never hit, punch, scream, spit, throat-locked, throwing chairs at anybody, anywhere. I'm not a cranky old bully either. So can I get a job? :nohead:

He's one of the announcers for Pat Summitt's 1,000 career win attempt tonight, right? Maybe he got bit by the bug, seeing as he's 902 and wants to hit the thousand mark himself.
