With spring practices underway, Bleacher Report has taken the opportunity to study depth charts, injury reports, new players and areas of concern for each team. With that in mind, they have developed a spring preseason top 25 list.

1. Ohio State
2. TCU
3. Baylor
4. Southern Cal
5. Michigan State
6. Alabama
7. Notre Dame
8. Oregon
9. UCLA
10. Clemson
11. Auburn
12. Ole Miss
13. Georgia
14. Arizona State
15. Florida State
16. Arkansas
17. Arizona
18. Tennessee
19. Oklahoma
20. Texas A&M
21. Oklahoma State
22. LSU
23. Georgia Tech
24. Wisconsin
25. Mississippi State

Some quick observations (opinion) on how BR has rated these teams.

*Mississippi State does not belong in he top 25. The Dogs are having to rebuild both the offensive and defensive lines plus loss of other key personnel.
*Like the fact that Arkansas and Tennessee are beginning to gain some respect again.
*Florida State should be in the top 10. Just because the Noles are replacing a QB doesn't mean there's not talent galore in Tallahassee.
*Good to see some love for Auburn with all the doubters out there...the Tigers are going to be good this year.
*I would have Notre Dame in the top 5.
*Ohio State certainly deserves the pick for number one.

3 Pac 12 teams, 2 Big 10 teams and and two Big 12 teams in the Top 10. Very interesting. Only Alabama from the SEC, and I am not that sure that they are the best in the SEC. You've got to like Auburn, though they play a tough conference schedule, as does UGA and 'Bama, to some extent. From what my contacts tell me, USC has not looked particularly sharp in the spring, while UCLA has. Of course it is still very early and anything, including key injuries, arrests, and being kicked off the team and/or flunking out of school can, and will happen.

Provided BR's list is somewhat correct. A lot of top 10 teams will knock each other off.

Fast forward to the end of the season...don't think the top 10 will even be close.

The end of the season will be chaotic. Last season it was rather easy to find 4-5 teams (there were actually 6 Power 5 teams) that had 0 or 1 loss. This season I can see one or maybe two, but that is really about it. The ACC, Pac 12, and SEC who all have CC games, may not have teams with less than two losses. The Pac 12 and SEC have enough talented teams to have their division winners in the playoffs, no matter what happens in the CC games.

Texas AM looks underrated. They had back-2-back top 10 recruiting classes. The freshman safety and DE were studs last year and are only getting better with John Chavis running the defense. Sumlin returns an experienced QB. They get Alabama and Auburn at home.

After #1 it's up in the air. It's preseason but just got a hunch that Ohio St won't end there. But it's preseason.

I guarantee you there will be an SEC team or two in the top 5 when the fat lady sings.
