Chicago Blackhawks already favorite to win 2016 Stanley Cup

David Purdum, ESPN Staff Writer

The Chicago Blackhawks began the 2014-2015 season as the Stanley Cup favorites and finished as the champions. They've already been anointed the favorites for next season, too.

</aside>The Westgate SuperBook opened the Blackhawks as 6-1 favorites to win the 2016 Stanley Cup this week. Chicago defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to hoist this year's Cup.

The New York Rangers and Anaheim Ducks, both at 8-1, are the second choices in 2016, followed by the runner-up Lightning and Los Angeles Kings at 10-1. The Minnesota Wild,Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins and St. Louis Blues are all at 12-1.

The Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes are the biggest long shots at 200-1.
Last October, the Blackhawks were listed at 11-2 to win the Stanley Cup at the SuperBook. They remained among the favorites for the majority of the season, before besting the Lightning in the finals with Monday night's 2-0 victory.

Chicago has won three Stanley Cup championships since 2010.
The free-agent market isn't expected to be impactful, but the trade market is intriguing. Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp and Rangers forward Rick Nashare some of the big names that could be on the move this offseason.

Wish I could get a bet on the St. Louis Blues to lose the first round of the play-offs? It should be 3-5 odds.

Kings getting a lot of love, for a team that didn't make the post season.

St Louis fucked up when they traded for Miller IMO. They gave away one of the top goalies in the league, for a guy that was past his prime.

Habs at 16-1 a steal!!! 9 posts and an illegal OT winner prevented them from beating TB and a cheap shot on Price prevented them from making the finals back to back years! The west is stacked, at 16-1 a lot of value to make it to the finals and then hedge. Thanks for posting!

Yes they are. We all know last year was the exception with them though, not the norm.

I have to take my bias out of this, so assuming the Hawks are kicked out of the league next year, hard for me to picture Anaheim not being there at least in the WCF. They are very very tough.

Cheap shot?

Damn right! Slashed on right leg kick, left leg first sliding away from Price then turns left leg towards Price!!! Plus Kreider has a history of this. Too bad that P.O.S wasn't playing in the 70's and 80's!!! No place for cheap shot artists! Still pissed at Steckel for cheap shoting Crosby!!! That P.O.S doesn't even play in the NHL anymore and Crosby hasn't been the same since!!!
