BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A second serviceman died Tuesday from wounds suffered in a grenade attack blamed on an Army sergeant, the military said.

Air Force Maj. Gregory Stone, 40, based in Boise, was pronounced dead at an Army field hospital in Kuwait, the Idaho Air National Guard said.

Sgt. Asan Akbar is in custody in the attack. He was shipped to a military jail in Germany on Tuesday after a judge found probable cause to try him for the crime. Akbar, an American Muslim who told family members he was wary of going to war in Iraq, has not been charged.

The soldier held in a grenade attack against his fellow 101st Airborne soldiers once worshipped at the largest mosque for black Muslims in Los Angeles, a mosque once visited regularly by Muhammad Ali and that continues to count celebrities and sport stars among its worshippers.

Sgt. Asan Akbar reportedly uttered anti-American statements after his arrest for Sunday's attack on a brigade command center that killed two, including an Air Force major who died of his wounds Tuesday, and injured 14.

Actually I agree, shoot him for treason and other crimes. Make an example of him. The military doesn't need their own members gunning for them.

But if the officer was a poor leader and would have caused a lot of deaths, then fragging is ok by me, and he should receive a medal. No need to let some incompetent officer lead a bunch of hard working grunts into battle and get them killed.

But I don't think that was the case here.

I would hope that most people would not have offered their view as, "Treasoning soldier should be shot dead", NOT "Black Muslim should be shot dead". Do you think he should be shot because he's a black muslim? Should all black muslims be shot?

No, Black Muslims shouldn't be shot, but I think outlawing those dorky Pee Wee Herman bow ties they all wear would be good for all of society.

BTW, from what I understand most Muslims do not consider the Nation of Islam to be truly Muslim.

My only comment in this entire topic, now that I've seen it, is that the use of 'Black Muslim' contained an extra word that had no relevant information in it whatsoever, with respect to the event. 'Black' - what possible difference would this make? When contained in the body of a story, explaining other characteristics, sure it does, but when contained in the title it can only suggest something else even if it's not intended.

I'm not politically correct. Really. But the important word here is 'Muslim', insofar as this might help to inform why he would throw grenades to kill his own, that perhaps he was disillusioned with the war due to his religious beliefs. But I don't give a damn what color Americans are or from what country originally as long as they are Americans - and here's a shock, Americans include Muslims too, including those in the opposition groups who emigrated here to get away from the hell in Iraq and love this country.

The fact that this guy was black is meaningless to me. The fact that he attacked his own is everything.
