Boston George's Blow is a great classic... But I try not to compare the 2 films just because of the genre, Depp and Boston... If anything, this films resembles more The Departed, but, the camera work is better here IMO. The Departed looks too present, Black Mass feels old but looks good, I like that.

Bonus... the kid that played Todd, the nazi cook in the 5th season of Breaking Bad has a major role and it's good.

Depp has played such a variety of roles from Scissor hands to a cold blooded killer. Very talented artist.

Saw it the other day myself. Black Mass was more factual. But the departed was a better movie IMO.

If you have Netflix. There is a movie documentary on Whitey by CNN. There is a real life witness against Whitey that doesn't even make it to the end of the documentary. He was found dead in the woods 20 miles from Boston.
Forgot the name of it but. Just type Whitey Bulger in the search and it will come up.
All the characters mention in Black Mass are covered in this documentary.

Whats amazing is how corrupt the the FBI was in all of this.

Johnny Depp had me feeling unsettled and disturbed the whole movie. A+ for Depp , C for everything else.

The story itself was disjointed. Seemed more like a bunch of different scenes than a completely connected movie.

Thanks for this. Will try to watch it. Black Mass was excellent and Depp was superb.

Whitey was inhuman after the death of his son from aspirin injection became more of killing machine after the death of his
mother. Depp was really a good actor!!! Probably get an Oscar for his role in "Black Mass"

Wish he wasn't a francophile (sp) - and he's done a lot of shit (chocolate factory, Alice In Wonderland, most of the Pirates movies, Sweeny Todd, lone Ranger... I can go on). But has done some amazing stuff too - have liked him ever since Fear and Loathing.
