You guys are silly, it's very overblown by the media regarding the violence. Don't be fooled by the hype. My girlfriend goes out every year as do a bunch of women I know, there is never any violence or fear. Sure the crowds and madness are a true story but the violence is mostly overblown. They find some injuries and fights wherever there are crowds that big, be it parades, concerts, whatever.
Take a closer look at the videos in the stores where 50 people are "fighting" over the items. They don't have mad looks on their faces, there aren't being punches thrown. It's all part of the event not much different then kids "fighting" for candy after a pinata is broken at a birthday party. Between the 10's of thousands of stores and millions of customers there is bound to be some violence but that is normal even on a regular day. It just more because the volume of people is higher on Black Friday. The media will search out the violence because they know people eat that shit up on the news every year.
Very observant and intelligent post on the subject.
