This is beyond ridiculous, how can this be in the year 2005, we have just TWO

black college head coaches in all of Division I College Football?

Who would be the leading candidates? I'm sure Ty will be hired by someone very soon, the grass isn't always greener ...Why do coaches always take more money of security?

He was building Stanford into a power out west, leaves for South Bend and can't score to save his job! Stay put once in a while...

Still a sad fact, only 2 of 113 are black no matter how you slice the potatos

I think white coaches have an easier time recruiting journey.

no doubt there are some talented black coaches out there, recruiting is a different game.

Look for Derrick Brooks to someday have the FSU job.......and do a great job.

Remember, you heard it here first.

J-man,
I believe there were 5 this year and 3 have been fired.

The black coaches association (BCA) may be hindering their own cause by their apparent double standard. They are denouncing ND for firing TW as if because TW is black he should not be held to the same standards as other coaches. TW himself took the high road and admitted he did not meet his own goals and thus set himself up to be terminated. TW is a class act and should and will get another position real soon!

ND should be applauded by the BCA for giving TW a chance. His firing had nothing to do with race and everything to do with the availability of Urban Meyer.

There are 2 black coaches in college football. So?

I never understand when people question this type of thing.

The best one is when they ask why so little black coaches in the NBA. I ask why so few white players? Why does that not matter if it matters the other way?

I don't doubt anything you say anymore but this would come as a great surprise, although I agree we're talking about a couple of very cerebral ballplayers in Brooks and Butler, and talented!

Butler(FSU grad) is allready an assistant with the Packers and Brooks has made it known that he may want to coach at FSU...........as an assistant first.

well Journey, how many national titles did he spit out? how many NFL first rounder did he avergage a year?

sure, he is one of the best coaches in history success wise. He could coach his booty off.

but kids dont look at that.

notre dame isnt tradition and pride anymore. oklahoma, USC and Miami is.

Miami wins titles, Miami sends a lot of guys to the NFL. oklahoma wins titles, USC wins games.

and what color are the coaches? theyre white.

the white coach means dollar signs and success, the colleges know this. they want a white guy at the helm at least he has something in common with Miami$$.

get it?

so the BCA says he was fired because he is black?.........was he white when he was hired?

There are 2 black coaches in the NCAA for the same reason that there are only a handful of white shooting guards in the NBA or for the same reason that there is maybe 1 white guy in the blocks at the 100m Olympic finals.

What a stupid thread. I could give a rat's rear end how many coaches are black in NCAA football. People need to quit looking at the color of people's skin. Now 115 of the 117 college presidents who do the football hiring are racists? :finger:

Notre Dame did Willingham a big favor by firing him now. There are many jobs available and he can start recruiting now. He got hired at ND when recruiting was ending. He was a very classy coach and will do well elsewhere.

Only color that Notre Dame knows is green.

Notre Dame is acting in accordance with the 21st century American variation of the Missouri Compromise whereby Blacks were counted as 3/5ths of a man .
Faust and Davies get 5 years no matter how bad their performance but Ty gets 3!
Willingham is definitel one of the five best college coaches in nation adn will show taht when given the chance as he was at Stanford.
