He is going to Kentucky. If he wanted to put the speculaton to rest, all he has to do is say that he is staying at Florida, and those coaches never do that.

For those talking about the money, remember that Florida has no state income tax, so UF could offer him less and he could still be making more by staying.

I think DG said today he moved his entire family down to florida too...like his dad, his sister, his cousins, the whole ball of wax.

I just can't see Donovan leaving. Everyone has their dream program but circumstances change. Urban Meyer's dream program was Notre Dame, but he saw that there were more challenges and greater expectations there than at UF so he chose the Gators. Donovan is a smart fellow, he can make UF basketball something special. At Kentucky, even if all goes well, in all likelihood he will only go down as the 2nd or 3rd best coach there. Also remember that most recruits don't care about tradition anymore and just want to go to the hot team now and they also want to go to a happening place. Lexington, KY is not a happening place by any stretch of the imagination and this hurts their chances to land top recruits as well. Donovan will have more of a recruiting advantage at UF right now than he could next year with the Wildcats. Just don't see Donovan leaving, especially after Foley offers him $3.5 mil a year to stay in Gainesville next week.

Not to mention the difference in pressure. Game over in Florida...he'll be on the hot seat in two years in Kentucky if he doesn't get them to the final four.

State income tax is 3% in IL, and most states are around that number. It's only New York, California, and a few others, where state income tax is a significant amount (9-10%). Even at the high rate, state income tax will have no impact on his decision.

Donovan would have to pay 6% state income tax in Kentucky as opposed to none in Florida. Also, I meant to say that Foley planned on offering at least $2.5 million, not $3.5 million. Foley will make the offer close enough or match it to get Donovan to stay a Gator.

Billy's family loves Gainesville. It's home to them.

There is pressure to win at UF but not as big as Kentucky. You lose at UF it's oh well because football is still king. When you win, you're the king. But you lose at Kentucky and it's the end of the world for them and they'll be screaming for your head.

I think Billy is using UK to boost up his price for UF. At least I hope so.

He was already going to get paid big time from UF and UF has known for a while UK would come for him when Tubby left so he doesnt need to use UK. He was getting what he is going to get anyways. He has told former UK players while he was an assistant he is open to the job. And Tubby himself said in an interview he told told Billy earlier this week he should take it. Oh but I remember Billy says he hasnt thought of UK. Well someones lying. Thats all i know.:niceback: just like that pic.

I don't buy the arguement that hes using UK to get more money. If he wins back to back championships, shouldn't he get more money when he negotiates his new contract? Also....Whats Urban Meyers agent going to say if they are paying the basketball coach more than them? Football is still king at Florida regardless if Billy wins 4 in a roll. Basketball will always be 3rd in line at Florida. Football is #1 & Spring football is #2.

Florida should be able to match whatever KY throws at him..
There's no doubt Florida can match whatever Kentucky offers. If he chooses Kentucky it won't be the money that makes the decision. It will be the challenge of meeting the crazy expectations that Kentucky fans demand of their basketball program. People that are as succesful as Billy Donovan are not going to turn down a high pressure job in fear of failure. Their mindset doesn't work that way. It's going to come down to if he is content with his life in Florida or if he wants a new challenge at this point in his career.

I believe that Billy will stay ar Florida. The UF president has already said that money will not be the deciding factor. UF will match anything that KY will offer. The UF president is the one that hired Meyer. He also hired Meyer at Utah. Billy LOVES Gainesville. Fingers and toes are crossed. LT:103631605 :toast:

If he left the championships will mean alot less since he won't be around. He will be the enemy all of a sudden, especially being in the same conference. It will be like he did it for nothing.
