i agree 100%--he's one of the worst tourney coaches out there--yes he won a title a few years back, but other than that he's been ABSOLUTELY horrible as a tourney coach...i'll have to remember that again for next year when Kansas comes in as a 1 or 2 seed and doesn't cover spreads. Lost a couple of bigger bets with Kansas today

Self has taken 3 different teams to the Elite 8, and won a national title. The top pick in the draft didn't play.....that may have something to do with his coaching.

Completely agree. Completely different team with Embeed.

Not covering spreads and losing your bet doesn't mean the guy can't coach. I am far from a KU fan, but the guy is a very good coach and runs a model program.

I have mixed feelings about him, but mostly positive

his teams tend to play solid D and I've seen him make some great in game adjustments (UNC a couple of years ago)

but then he has these mysterious tourny busts too, a few too many IMHO

at the end of the day, I still think Self is one of the best in the country

His program is always highly rated, just like a lot of teams. Lots of good teams don't advance past the first weekend every year.

Is Coach K a bad coach?? He's lost in the first rd twice in 5 years.

Coach K hasn't just lost twice in rd 1 2 of the last 3 years, his teams have CHOKED badly to what? A 13 & 14 seed? If you wanna live in the past than yeah, he's great. If you wanna live in the here and now, his teams CHOKE!
