Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is going out with a bang — on Donald Trump’s head.
The city’s top cop hurled a flurry of verbal haymakers at the GOP presidential nominee on Wednesday, questioning whether the tough-talking billionaire has “ever taken a punch in his life.”
Just a day after announcing his resignation as head of the NYPD, Bratton said he’s terrified of the prospect of Trump winning the White House.
“Mr. Trump scares me ... he scares the hell out of me,” Bratton said on “CBS This Morning.”

A half-hour earlier on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Bratton said he’s not falling for Trump’s tough-guy act.
“He talks tough, but I think I know a little bit about law and order,” said Bratton (photo), a 45-year law enforcement veteran. “I always wonder about tough guys ... they talk tough, but I wonder if Mr. Trump has ever taken a punch in his life.”
And Vietnam veteran Bratton said he was “appalled” by how Trump, who got five draft deferments during that war, accepted a Purple Heart given to him Tuesday in Virginia.

“That’s one of the highest awards for soldiers suffering serious injury received in combat,” Bratton said. “The idea to treat it so lightly .. I was amazed and appalled. I’m amazed that fellow vets are so supportive of him.”

“I’ve known Mr. Trump over the years and I’m not supporting him,” the outgoing police commissioner said. “That’s the reality of it.”
An email to the Trump campaign for comment was not returned Wednesday.

Bratton will be leaving the NYPD next month to take a job with Teneo Holdings, a consulting company with close ties to the Clintons.
The company, launched in 2011, served as an adviser to the Clinton Global Initiative, and ex-President Bill Clinton served for a short time on the Teneo advisory board. Huma Abedin, the personal assistant for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, used to work for the company.
Bratton announced his resignation from the NYPD on Tuesday. Chief of Department James O’Neill will replace him as police commissioner, Mayor de Blasio announced.
“I’m going to miss this place,” Bratton said in a heartfelt video message to rank-and-file officers posted after he announced his resignation. “Thank God I had a second opportunity to come back.”
