LAst night i put in 100 on the under of the padres game.
the fact the game had an NFL score didn't bother me. when i logged in this morning and saw that I accidentally put it in for 1000 is the pisser.

i can't remember being more frustrated.

i have done this before but have always been able to correct it before gametime.

Sorry, that sucks.

Been there, done that.

My best advice is to stay focused and laugh it off(tough I know) and say to yourself you will get that money back in some mysterious way in the future.

VG,

If you bet long enough this will happen. And phoning em in doesnt help either. Nothings worse than yelling at person saying you only wanted it for a dollar and to hear your voice on a recording asking for a dime. Shake it off, think about the surprise you would have got if it went under!

Go get em!

IMHO, terms like "nickle, dime, or dollar" should never be used when betting. Always use the correct amount, such as "five hundred", and enunciate carefully.

When betting over the phone you should always have the clerk reading you for example 550 to win 500. The slang terms should never be used and your readback is your confirmation. The one that is always the kicker is when you say "for a dollar" since it will get written as $400 many times so again that readback of $440 to win $400 or $110 to win $100 is needed. On-line is all on you so never drink and enter and always pay attention to that confirmation before resubmitting. Usually you will notice your balance being way off as well after betting if your bet amount wasn't what you wanted it to be.

100% right in theory, although in reality, impossible. I can be trading all night at a time, so not drinking is out of the question. I would say its the sole reason for any mistakes I make, my most frequent is putting a bet in on Betfair, not getting matched, and forgetting to cancel it, which comes back to haunt me.

You can also get a script for Betfair which over-rides the comfirmation process, therefore giving instant betting, forgetting that your mouse is armed can be lethal.

I had that happen on a prop. Meant 50, pressed 500, and lost. How come those plays are never winners?

Two or three times I've picked the wrong team while in a hurry! I won at least 1 of them I remember, and I felt stupid but good. I've also accidently picked run lines when I meant to pick straight ML a couple of times. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Not often, but I amaze myself at times. tulsa

My problem is every so often I'll neglect to hit the "confirm bet" button (I guess) and I'll have a game come in just to find out I had no action.

I spend the next two days telling my wife what my balance "should be".

Frustrating.

It's probably happened to MANY people, including myself, as recently as last month.Fortunately, most of the time it's worked out for the better(not last month though !). 2 seasons ago I was scalping NHL games and made some large wagers on one side and realized I bet the wrong side to make the scalp.I Let the wagers stand on their own,and they won. Also made some wagers on games that closed before I could bet the other side. Those also won. It happened 6-8 times that season and I won them all. Unfortunately last month it didn't work out as I screwed up on a Nets/Raptors game. I realized it in plenty of time but only bet back about 30% of my original wager. Needless to say the original wager lost and it cost me $660.

Hang in there and recoup slowly. Don't make the mistake of trying to get it all back at once.

last year on a frantic saturday,

I thought I found a Huge middle opportunity with a -2/+3.5 situation....

I quickly hammerred both sides for about 2K each side....

At Halftime I logged into Pinny & balance seemed much higher than I imagined?:icon_conf

I checked my history & noticed the -2 I had layed was ACTUALLY A FIRST HALF BET!!!!! (thank god it won)

By a freak stroke of luck I also covered the Full game spread +3.5 winning both sides.....

but these MISTAKES have gone against me the wrong side aswell....

the halftime SCALP where you put 2K on one side & then go to bet the other side & the game is OTB :icon_conf those really hurt....
