I happen to like Jon Miller, but I guess he grew on me during my time living in Boston and Maryland.

Has anyone ever heard his impression of the Japanese Vin Scully? It's classic--a guy talking in "Japanese" with the sing-song and intonation of Scully.

WHY THERE SHOULD BE NO WOMEN ANNOUNCERS!

http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2007/10/suzyn-waldman-cries-on-air-following.html

I understand that Fans get upset when "their" team loses, and sometime cry. But a broadcaster live on-air? I think that's unprecedented. Well that's exactly what Yankees radio announcer Suzyn Waldman did during the postgame show on WFAN last night. Here's the audio.

WCBS 880 Audio

“No I was okay actually until I went into the clubhouse and the coaches are sitting in Torre’s office and they are watching this. And the tears you hear in my voice are coming down the faces of the coaches in that coach's room.”- Suzyn Waldman
"Well Suzyn, in life all good things come to an end.”- John Sterling

God schadenfreude is so rich sometime(s). But in all seriousness there is NEVER an instance when a broadcaster should cry live on air. I understand her allegiance to the team and the emotions tied to working for them, but even John Sterling sounded shocked that she was tearing up.

You can also relive Suzyn's greatest moment ever when Roger Clemens came back earlier in the year if you'd like. I'm trying my hardest not to pile on here....trust me.

I find the "homer" mentality more interesting to listen than the impartial announcers. I like the White Sox WGN TV announcers. I think they keep the game lively.

I agree 101%. I can barely watch the Rockies on TBS-it's just not the same.

Granted, it has it's downside-the Rockies booth guys can drive you into depression if they lose, but at least they are into it.

you guys haven't heard homers until you have heard Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow do a Giants game. Kuiper isn't that bad, but Krukow is the absolute biggest homer and Giants' (including Bonds) apologist I have ever heard. Combine that with their annoying voices and they are virtually unwatchable.

Cohen is very nauseating to listen to with the Mets. The "they can do no wrong" mentality was pretty funny to hear during the last stretch of the season.

The Hawk announced in Boston until 79 and he was the best. What a character. He loved boston and did not hide it (as a player when he got traded he was more than upset about leaving here). He was so colorful. Then he went to the WHite Sox and has been gone a long time. He does not speak of fondess around here anymore (when he does talk about Boston) as he has found a home in Chicago and it has been a long time. It seems people are very mixed on him, even the home towners. He was the man in the late 70's in Boston.

Dodgers have Steiner now on their radio broadcast along with Rick Monday. Man, makes me miss Ross Porter.

Listening to Sam Huff and Sonny Jurgensen call a Redskins game will make anyone want to puke.

Typical homer announcers that would both love to have Joe Gibbs anally (if they haven't already).
