Papi is the best clutch hitter I have ever seen.

He is clutch. That was a moon shot!

Scariest hitter I ever saw was Barry Bonds. Roids, no roids, whatever. The guy could not be pitched to for a good 3-4 year span. He absolutely refused to swing at a ball and if you threw a strike, GOOD BYE! Best eyes I have ever seen at the plate. Watching him get intentionally walked with the bases loaded was crazy but giving up 1 run was better than 3 or 4. Not a fan of his at all but I saw what I saw and his AB's were fun to watch!

Mike Piazza...... for 3-4 years in the mid 1990's he was as clutch as they come..he wasn't in Bonds' league (but nobody was)...but Papi has done it for well over a decade-plus so no argument there!

Since you are a Sox fan, Manny was crazy good in his prime too. He and Ortiz may be the best 3-4 punch in a long time. I was in Cleveland about 8 years ago and I bought tickets to a series with Boston in town. I went to all 3 games and it was a Boston sweep. I was talking to an old guy who was on the field near the Indians dugout. I stopped and said hi to him every night before the game. He talked about how much Manny was loved there and he told a story about Manny. He said Ramirez used to set pitchers up. Usually it is the other way around but not with Manny. He said he used to look awful with a swing on purpose, knowing the pitcher would go back to that same pitch and Manny would be waiting for it. The old guy worked for the Indians and he said Manny used to swing badly at a pitch and at times, he would wink to the dugout after. Sure enough, next time the pitcher went back to that pitch, GONE. Manny was an artist at the plate and he was another great one to watch. Another not so nice guy off the field though!
