Is he really gonna retire? Just playing DH 145 games a year can't be that physically demanding and the $ is as good as it has ever been for him.

ESPN did an article on Ortiz a few weeks ago and Ortiz says he really has bad feet.
He has to get to the ballpark very early and it takes hours to get his feet ready for play.
He has had enough.

There hasn't been a player in my lifetime, in any sport, crushing it during their retirement year like Ortiz is. The guy deserves to be in the hall of fame, if just because of his clutch post-season heroics.

How this guy gets a pass for being an asshole blows my mind... great player though even if tainted.

He just rubs me the wrong way... probably because of incidents like this where he almost murders Pedroia. I am not sure how any human can act like this unless they are taking something or have serious mental issues...

not right of him of course, though I did watch that game and the uno was out of control...but yeah I guess he can fit into the category if he is on your team you love him and if he was on the other team you would hate him.

Is any baseball player criticized much for their personality and conduct these days? It isn't really a sport with a lot of national discussion so its athletes don't get subjected to the same moral and character judging that NFL and NBA players do.
