this is my "conference" so to speak, but i am definitely not a conference homer like the sec fans chanting sec during the tennessee game last night. anyways i have to say i think this big east has been pretty overrated so far. uconns played no one (ill probably be on gonzaga saturday), pitts played no one (ill be on fla st sunday probably) and will choke in the ncaa tournament anyways, syracuse a couple of good wins but a loss to cleveland st, nd has the texas win but got beat by ohio st (basically a home game), louisville has the western ky embarrassment, georgetown dominated by tennessee and lucky to beat memphis at home, they have 6 teams that are basically completely terrible, nova was soundly beaten by texas on a neutral court, wvu has some injuries but is worse then last year. this conference was supposed to be the best ever, but i dont think its nowhere lived up to that so far this year. at this point i would still put it number 1 this year, but so far it would have to be considered disappointing.

i do agree. the talent and potential is there, but the credentials aren't. they needed some of those non conference wins to help the conference, like Marquette over Tenn last night, or Nova over Texas. When it comes down to it I think they will be a great conference, but not the best of all time like I thought they were capable of before the season.

the problem is the non conference season is about over, them beating each other up in the conference proves little. they have to have a great march madness almost at this point, they do have a chance saturday when ucon goes to gonzaga (in seattle!)

they have 6 teams that are basically completely terrible,

don't agree with much of what you said actually but especially not this sentence. I understand having Depaul, USF, Rutgers, and SJ but I'm not seeing 2 more "terrible" teams. The Hall have a good squad and Providence is much improved if those were the two you stuck in there.

You took the two unbeaten teams and said they played nobody and then said Gtown was "lucky" to beat last year's tourney finalist. I guess if you discount every teams wins and only point out the few losses it's easier to make your point but not very effective.

Right now the conference represent's 1/3 of the top 25 and almost 1/2 of the top 12 in the nation so I'd say they're right on track to being an unparalled powerhouse with 2/3 of the season remaining.

The post was obviously created in response to Marquette and Syracuse losing this week but your argument isn't well sustained, IMO. Also a strange comment that you'll be "on Fla St" this weekend yet saying Pitt has beat nobody? I can argue that Wash St and Tex Tech are at the FSU level for sure and Pitt had no trouble with either team. They also beat Miami by 30...the same Miami team that lost by single digits to UCLA and Xavier, both top 15 teams.

The Big East Flexed their muscles this week end and showed they are still one of the top conferences out there:drink:

SYRACUSE!!! Big win for UCONN today also. Both on the road so to speak. West Virginia also apparently alot better than this forum gave them credit for.

yes georgetown was very fortunate to the win game at home against memphis (who we saw yesterday is not even close to the team they were last year), and texas tech and washington state are both weaker then they traditionally are, florida state is a tick above those two and this will be pitts first road game which is tough for any team. i may have mispoke on the 6 but i do put providence in the terrible 4 group, they wont even be 500 at the end of the year. louisville has also been a major disappointment and proved that again yesterday. saturday was the first really good day for the league IMO, and no this thread wasnt about marquette and south florida losing, because this had to be considered a disappointing start for the league to this point since they had lost every big showdown they were in.

uconn earned there ranking yesterday syracuse has been tough all year even with the cleveland state loss, louisville marquette georgetown have all been disappointing, the whole point of the thread was the big east this year was supposed to be the "best conference ever" and it finally had a big day yesterday even with the louisville loss to minnesota
