BREAKING: The Trump administration has bypassed Congress to approve an emergency $2.04 billion arms sale to Israel, fast-tracking the transfer of tens of thousands of bombs.
➤ The deal includes over 35,529 MK 84 and BLU-117 general-purpose 2000-pounds bombs and 4,000 2000-pound bunker-buster warheads (I-2000)
➤ Secretary of State Rubio justified the move by declaring an “emergency” in U.S. national security interests, that requires the immediate sale to the Government of Israel, thereby waiving the Congressional review requirements under Section 36(b) of the Arms Export Control Act
The U.S. has authorized two additional arms sales to Israel, bringing the total to $3.01 billion:
➤ $675.7 million for 1,000-pound bombs, JDAM guidance kits, and munitions support. The sale includes: • 201 MK 83 1,000-lb bomb bodies • 4,799 BLU-110A/B 1,000-lb bomb bodies • 5,000+ JDAM guidance kits
➤ $295 million for Caterpillar D9 bulldozers, heavily armored machines used in Israeli military operations.
This is in addition to the $2.04 billion sale of 2,000-pound bombs
