From Drudge. ABC to promote Obamacare from White House and not allow opposing views.

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE
Tue Jun 16 2009 08:45:10 ET

On the night of June 24, the media and government become one, when ABC turns its programming over to President Obama and White House officials to push government run health care -- a move that has ignited an ethical firestorm!

Highlights on the agenda:

ABCNEWS anchor Charlie Gibson will deliver WORLD NEWS from the Blue Room of the White House.

The network plans a primetime special -- 'Prescription for America' -- originating from the East Room, exclude opposing voices on the debate.

MORE

Late Monday night, Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Ken McKay fired off a complaint to the head of ABCNEWS:

Dear Mr. Westin:

As the national debate on health care reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC's astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009. Next Wednesday, ABC News will air a primetime health care reform “town hall” at the White House with President Barack Obama. In addition, according to an ABC News report, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, WORLD NEWS, NIGHTLINE and ABC’s web news “will all feature special programming on the president’s health care agenda.” This does not include the promotion, over the next 9 days, the president’s health care agenda will receive on ABC News programming.

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.

In the absence of opposition, I am concerned this event will become a glorified infomercial to promote the Democrat agenda. If that is the case, this primetime infomercial should be paid for out of the DNC coffers. President Obama does not hold a monopoly on health care reform ideas or on free airtime. The President has stated time and time again that he wants a bipartisan debate. Therefore, the Republican Party should be included in this primetime event, or the DNC should pay for your airtime.

Respectfully,
Ken McKay
Republican National Committee
Chief of Staff

MERGED the two threads discussing the single ABC program that will emanate from The White House which I guess qualifies as "moving the entire news department out of NYC and down the hall from the OO"

Unfreakingbelievable.

The mainstream media and the Obama administration have officially become one. Welcome to Pravda, American-style.

What's funny (or sad, I can't decide) is this Obama administration has so many useful idiots at his disposal...and they can't even realize they're being played by him like a freaking grand piano.

The big question is will he slip up and end with "Dasvedanya, Comrades"?

Not sure where you grabbed the picture but I hope you're aware Deeds paid for those signs.

He was endorsed in the democratic primary by the Post and Deeds ,a rural candidate from the South West, blanketed NOVA with those signs in hopes of increasing his name ID and comfort with Northern Virginia voters.

If there was a Republican primary, they would've endorsed in that one too. They do it with the big statewide races.

Deeds jumped on the endorsement and was probably key his landslide to victory.

Post didn't actively campaign for anyone, they made an endorsement in a democratic primary and Deeds had smart enough people to capitalize on it.

No I didnt ,but in reality its irrelevant.

Did the post need to sanction the use of their logo in the signs he paid for?

Thats active enough for me.

I cant remember ever seeing a papers endorsement being included on signage, even up here in Mass where Id assume the liberals and liberal media really could care less how theyre perceived.

If you say the WAPO would provide the same gratuity to a GOP candidate I wont argue but to me it doesnt look good for objectivity until I see an example of it.

It's common practice in literature, Deeds took it a step further although I've seen it on signs before in VA. Campaigns would rather ask for forgiveness than permission, sure Deeds didn't ask and I bet the Post didn't mind seeing their name everywhere. They make Republican endorsements in primaries too, however, no Republican is going to use it on signs though since it has a reputation among conservatives as left leaning.

Trust me, this is a poor example of them not being objective.

Perhaps CBS will take on ABCs bias?

LOL

they're actually too stupid to realize how much they're ridiculed, why their ratings and revenues are dropping and why they're one of the least respected professions.

They live in their own circle jerk world.

Did The (Wash) Post need to sanction the use of their logo in the signs he paid for?

No.

Their printing it in their newspaper makes it available for anyone who uses it for a non-profit venture.
