This has to be the worst sports bet in the history of sports bet.
The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team were up by as much as 22 points in the second half of their second round March Madness contest. At that point most people likely turned the game off, thinking they would be victorious over the Nevada Wolf Pack.
One guy was so confident that the Bearcats would win that he placed a $2,000 live bet on them. The Bearcats got outscored 32-8 in the final 11-plus minutes of action, topped off by a shot from Nevada’s Josh Hall with 9.1 seconds left that put the Wolf Pack up 75-73, giving them their fist lead of the entire game.
The Bearcats lost and the bettor is likely sick to his stomach right now. To make matters worse, what he would’ve won if the Bearcats hadn’t choked was even worse than the outcome of the game.

Most of the time the books that lock up these kinds of wagers don’t mention it.

Equally as ignorant as the bet in the thread title.

I disagree, taking a shot at some big bucks is OK if you can afford it, and you only have to win one to cover 20 or more losses.

Risking $ 22,000 to win $ 20 is never an OK thing to do, and losing one such bets means you're a loser for life on those bets, you'd have to win 1,100 of them to break even

PS: the guy who won only received 22-1, so he didn't make the bet at the same time the guy who lost $ 22,000 did
