I read the article on the home page of this site about the PanAm situation. In it, the new CEO of PanAm said that they are a booking shop, rather than a betting shop like Pinnacle. What does that mean?

I assume it means they are trying to get balanced action (that's booking) rather than some shops who have opinions and take unbalanced action (that's betting). Just a guess, though.

A betting shop bets after a respected bettor bets them. You can move on your action all you want and you will NEVER balance the books unless you lay off. Depending on the type of book you have (wiseguys or squares) determines whether or not you should lay off and make your action balanced. All the Panam guy is saying is that they dont try to earn money by betting. If you have a square shop you would be harming your earning potential by laying off but on the other hand if you have a wise guy shop you need to balance the books as best as you can and try to avoid huge wise guy decisions. However, easier to say than to do.

Sounds like the prefect time to call & shop a few Bookmaker's Bookmakers with the offerings.
