I am hoping someone can answer this . I know there are a lot of professional betters out there so i need some advice .

Recently, i placed a bet on a tennis game. Blake at +1250 for $200. The other player was Hidalgo at +700. I realized there was probably an error because both were in the plus side. But i bet it anyway.

The bet was placed online and accepted. Before the game started, they took the bet away, probably realizing that they put +1250 instead of -1250. They never called or asked anything they just did it.

A couple times i wanted to cancel a bet before a game started and they wouldnt let me. So if they made the error on the line and accepted the bet, should'nt they have to accept it? Or do they have the right to void out any bet they want?

I did make a copy of the bet before it disappeared so they cannot say i did not make it. It is not even on the days record that it was made.

Should i fight this or not?

no case, bad line.

it is a very legit cancel, on the +1250 bet, that should be -1250. The +700 side should stand.

You'll get a bad rep at books betting stuff this bad, and possibly tossed out for it.

Better to alert the book, they might give you $25 or so for your effort.

Don't do this at 5Dimes.

Books can't void any bet they want, but can void obvious errors like this one. Plus they voided it before the start ! A book could take that bet, and only void it after the match, and still be correct....they might even take a shot back at you, by letting it stand, if it lost.

Have to agree with Doug here it is a blatant error and all books have a rule in place to protect them in such a case.

Also, I have to agree that in a case where a player backs both sides like this then only the +1250 should be voided and the +700 should stand regardless of whether it wins or loses as technically the line is correct...even if you wouldn't have bet on it.

It really amazes me when someone tries to take a shot like this and then call up the next day to complain that 1 bet was voided (+1250) and the other was a loser (+700) and can they have that bet voided as well - when if had it won then it would have been paid out as a winner...

If it were a paper ticket from a Vegas book, you'd likely get paid on it. Offshore, no way. The book already has you pegged as a shot taker.

Other posters will jump your ass, for posting this, BTW. Expect it. You seem to have known the line was way bad, when you bet into it.

Don't bet into bad lines. They will never payout on a line like that were both are listed as huge dogs, and they can kick you out for doing it. Better off reporting the line and maybe getting a Bonus Play, or getting it fixed if its a game you want to bet on with the correct line.

Don't fight it if you like the book...

I did this years ago with my favorite book of all time, betcom.com. I try to take advantage of a bad line, and they caught it and I fought about it with them. I was a winning player with them, won almost every single week for over a year, and after the fight they limited me to $50, basically pushing me out.

Don't fight it if you like the book, they may get you back.

I'm waiting for $tinky to opine, on this one ! :):)

+125 instead of -125, is pretty bad, but on the extreme edge of maybe being honored.

+1250/ -1250, no way in Hell.

did the intended fav win ?

would you want yourself as a customer, if you were on the other side of the counter ?
