Betting on baseball: Laying 1.5 runs (-1.5)...is this a good strategy or is it too risky?

With heavy favorites, it seems like it would pay off.

Any other opinions?

I like to use alt-run line with road dogs. Lay 1.5 runs with huge plus juice. Example tonight would be Detroit -1.5 +256 (Pinn.) Maroth/Dickey over Texas. By playing visitor you are guarnteed 9 at bats.

Good advice. It never worked for me, but the 9 at bats makes sense. I will look at that more.

No, but if you must, Wil's road dog theory is good angle, as you get inflated numbers, and if a fav is gonna blow outright in surprise spots, many blow royal when doing it..to get all emissions out the tank.

Too dangerous with chalk, as they still are even or fav often, and many good teams get played off their @sses, while counting on their pens to close out one run games.

It's hard enough to just pick winners, let alone winners by 2 runs, in a game where the majority of stats are measured in three digit decimals.

if you use this, you must play the visitor and get the juice..... others have mentioned this and it is correct....

Last season I tracked right here in the bases forum how the RLF -1.5 did. The answer: it came in less than 40% of the time. The RLU was more likely to cash (over 60%).

I didn't track RL performance by Visitors or Home, nor did I track the payouts. This is important, as RLFs are usually priced at +$, while RLUs are usually priced at -$.

I agree with with others in here: don't take Home RLFs.
