If I was smart, I'd go down to Florida with a shovel and start digging around Coach LT's property....he buries all his winnings....

follow steam and fade late moves if I get a peak number that I feel is being hit by the public just before gametime.

Ice, how do you differentiate between steam and public moves? Is it just that steam is where every book moves at once very quickly while the late public moves move slower and books move their numbers one at a time?

I have done quite well just betting with the late moves in CBB starting at about 6pm EST until the 8pm EST games go off. Don't know if it's sharps or public moving those numbers but betting with the moves at sleepy books has been good to me.

not a complete science or even close for that matter but something I do a few times a week on sides. Basically if a favorite goes up enough less than 30 minutes before the game starts and is hitting numbers that havent been seen all day (getting higher and higher) than i will play the dog. Like I said I dont do it a lot but it is something I am adding to what I do and to be truthful I am not sure I have won becasue of it.

For example if a game opens -120 and at 6:30pm est the line is at -130 and starts to rise to -140 and higher, I will not be jumping on the favorite but waiting till just minutes before start time and hope to find a book (usually a sharper book) who has a +135 or so up. Something like that. Betting -132 or so in the above example is not good (IMO). Following late steam and missing out on good numbers is a long term losing bet so I am more or less doing the opposite of what I already do. Trying to bet numbers at their apex, like MR.J was saying earlier is what I am looking to do and like I said this isnt very mant times at all thru the week.

Yeah, I've done that a few times as well. I believe one of them was getting Buffalo +14.5 against Dallas on Monday night last year when the public kept hammering the line up on Dallas.

Like you said, I never take a bad number. It's just I normally bet with the moves at a square book (mainly now I just bet CBB totals).

Know what you mean Ice...the trick is getting to hit the number at it's APEX before the sharps drive it back up or down at post....

It's the sharps that move the lines up and down...any book that moves numbers on squares will not last very long...sharp might make some limit bets in the morning and really pound the other side later in the day...sharps follow sharps all day long, and then the really wise guys pound the number where they want it to go....weather withstanding....

They will often overlap as a square book will often offer a number that was never available at a place like pinny. But yes, it can also often mean making opposite bets (your example was good).

the trick is getting to hit the number at it's APEX before the sharps drive it back up or down at post

Which is awesome, because even less people can do that then be bothered to bet off numbers at square books ;).

It's the sharps that move the lines up and down

They may be the origin of the move, but I can't believe that they're responsible for the majority of the movement. A true sharp wouldn't be taking a sub-par price, so most of the movement would be caused by hedgers and those chasing steam. The movement would be marginal if the hedgers and steam-chasers didn't jump on. This doesn't mean that the slower bettors won't be profitable, but I certainly wouldn't consider them sharp, at least not in this situation.

If you can win 2 out of 3 per day thats 66%

Doing it is another thing.

If you looking at it as a stock market type thing and have the time grinding out a daily profit will add up at the end of year.

If your looking to smack your man betting a small amount of games and getting hot and then lay down the thunder on your man on certain game here and there then pick and choose.

Winning more than you lose, thats the pipe dream.
smarter words were never spoken.ive always dreamed of being the next billy walters.ive had good years and bad.i believe most people lose that bet alot of games.its much easier to narrow the games down.

When I was a book..the ones that beat me every year was the ones that bet only a few game a week...call it the best of the best play...you will find that is the best way.If you bet alot...than you should do it two way...Investment...a few each week for the bigger amount of money...than action plays...lots with small edge and small amount of money...action is more like ..its on tv...I need to bet to bet...small edge what the hell

still it better to do fewer games from my point of view

best to you this year

I think success can come in both forms... if you're individually handicapping, then probably a smaller amount of exceptional bets will get it done.. if you have a mechanised method with a small edge, then the more volume the better.
