• The MGM Mirage took a $3,000 bet on Stanford at 100-1 to win the national championship from a house player in August. The same bettor also put approximately $1,750 on Boise State to win it all at 175-1.
• In July, the South Point sportsbook opened Ohio State as a 10-1 underdog to go undefeated and win the national championship. Heading into Week 1, the Buckeyes' odds of going 15-0 have been bet down to 7-2. "We stand to lose a little bit if they do it," Jimmy Vaccaro of the South Point said.
• More than 1,000 bets have been placed on Ohio State to win the national championship at the MGM sportsbook. Next closest is TCU with 675. Marshall and BYU have attracted the fewest bets. Both teams had fewer than 10 as of Monday.
• 15 percent of the total amount of money wagered on Nevada sportsbook William Hill's odds to win the national championship is on Ohio State.
• Ohio State, Georgia and Notre Dame are top five in money wagered at both William Hill and the SuperBook.
• The biggest long shots to win a Power 5 conference title game at the SuperBook: Vanderbilt plus-500 and Wake Forest plus-500.
Talent points
• Ole Miss has more eligible 2016 NFL draft prospects than any other team with 15, according to ESPN's Todd McShay.
• TCU has the second most with 14.
• Utah, with 13, has as many draft prospects as Alabama or Ohio State, according to McShay.
• Texas has four NFL draft prospects. Western Kentucky has five. Duke has six.
• Kansas, Indiana and Iowa State each have three draft prospects, the fewest among Power 5 teams.
Coaching points
• Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is 35-9 ATS in with more than one week to prepare, including 7-3 ATS in season openers.
• Hawaii coach Norm Chow is 2-29 straight-up as an underdog. Urban Meyer is 16-8 straight-up as an underdog.
• Texas coach Charlie Strong is 11-22 against the spread at home in his career, but 18-7 ATS on the road.
• Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh went 28-21 ATS at Stanford and 40-28-4 in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. Combined, Harbaugh's teams have covered the spread in 58.1 of games.
• Since returning as Kansas State coach for the 2009 season, Bill Snyder is 37-14-1 ATS in Big 12 play.
• Kentucky is 5-11 ATS in SEC play under coach Mark Stoops.
• Coach Kevin Wilson's Indiana teams are 31-16 over/under.
• 64.3 percent of UTSA's Larry Coker's games as a head coach have stayed under the total.
