Question by Stew:
HtRC,
I signed up first, then read the rules....LOL.
What happens if I pick a horse and an alternate and both are scratched? Scratches are not unlikely on BC day...I remember a few years back watching the races and one of the favorites, a female horse as I recall, fell on the track before the post parade and had to be scratched, even euthanized that day.
One of the rules says no editing, but if the post was edited before the races started, what is the harm? That would enable people to make their plays earlier in the week and then substitute another horse for a horse that is scratched. Otherwise people would all want to make their picks 15 mins or so before the races begin, so as to have the maximum information on which horses are scratched
Answer
Thanks for the question, if by some odd occurance both horses are scratched then a player will be given the post time favorite.
I would suggest putting in picks either the night before or the day of the Breeders Cup as this sites set up doesn't allow editting after 60 minutes anyways.
This contest is going to have alot of participants and grading is going to be tough enough so I am trying to make it as easy as possible to grade as the races are run. BetRoyal is going to advertise it to their clientelle base which is going to increase the participants and create alot of entries. So if I have a thread for each race it will be easier for me to grade and easier for everyone to know where they stand. I will discuss the locking of threads with Royal before racetime but I guarantee that with free contests there is always someone who will say that we locked it as he/she was entering a pick or that the screen froze.. etc etc etc, I don't want to have to babysit some. Sorry if that seems harse.
