I'm leaving my money there. My personal experience with Casablanca has been too favorable for too many years to abandon now because of this isolated issue. I have never had any complaints with them, and have always been paid very promptly. Their 5 % back on wins and losses is one of the best incentives a book could offer.
I think Dave is in error by not paying this guy in full and parting company, and I'm afraid that Dave's personal issues with this guy may be over- riding good business judgment. I couldn't say it better than the Shrink did in his post to to Dave Johnson in a different thread. A mistake has been made---pay the guy and move on. None of us are exempt in life from making mistakes.
In all honesty, from what i see of "Areefs" dialogue and methods on these forums, he's not a guy I'd be anxious to become friends with either, but by trying to sort out who "deserves" to be paid and who shouldn't be paid may seem to Dave like a righteous thing to do, but it further intensifies a situation that was brought on by their own error. Arreef may represent "opportunity" waiting for a bad line to happen, but he didn't post the line, and he didn't have his bet cancelled in a timely fashion. Bet CBS was remiss in letting this mistake slip through, even on a very secondary sport like this tennis event, taking place when much of the western world was fast asleep.
Do I think CBS will ever put themselves in a situation like this again?? HIGHLY DOUBTFUL after this happened!! Do I think CBS has the werewithall to ride this one out? I think so. In fact some strange logic tells me that they may be strong enough to believe they can weather this bad publicity despite their decision. They just put in a brand new computer system which expanded their business opportunites to include horse racing, and I think they are committed to being around. I also think there are far more questionable books and casinos advertising and smoozing with the various forums every day than Casablanca whose had a good rep and business history for 6 or 7 years. In fact, I have never ever heard anyone document they were ever stiffed or beaten out of a dime by Casabalnca (ever) at any time prior to this situation.
I think the "shrinks" post to Dave Johnson was excellent and would still like to see a resolution with this issue.
