Amazing how people start making these sorts of bets when a team gets hot. Remember all the guys talking about the DRays back when they got hot? If a team needs to put on a furious rally just to get in the playoffs, they generally are shot and have little left in the tank to carry them through.

Why not bet a team that has won 12 in a row and 9 in a row like the Marlins or Red Sox who have won 14 out of their last 15 ? This is September and when I just bought the Astros on Labor Day at a Las Vegas Sportsbook at 75/1, why not ? I just bought the Marlins yesterday after they had won their 9 th straight at 40/1 right here in Las Vegas sportsbook! As for your theory that teams that have to put on a big rush just to get into the race usually fizzle out, can you go back just 1 year and say Marlins ? I'll take teams that are playing great in Setember anyday. Also, Redeye, the way Roger Clemens and Oswalt are pitching, Astros could just win a world series ! 2 very good pitchers are often enough in a short series.
