best sound system for your home?

My old sound system is evidently not compatible with my new TV, WTF

Anyhow, good time to get a new and smaller system.

Any suggestions? Any great values for the money? Not looking to spend a lot, maybe $ 500 tops

I've always found Bose to have great sound, but I'm not sure if they offer a home system for under $500.

looks like they have a sound bar with a woofer for $ 700 or so, there's a Bose outlet near me so I'm thinking of heading there today

I don't think either statement is true Chop, but maybe we just have different uses or different expectations or a different ear. I've listened to a few systems over the years I know I can enjoy

I'm just looking to see if someone knows of some hidden gem, some great value, some lessor known brand with great sound and easy to connect to everything

get Sonos, it's the best. Great sound, easy to add more speakers and easy to connect with your tv, control with remote, etc. sound is awesome too. I started with 1 speaker and now have 5 with sound in different rooms, etc. you can play different music in each room too.

I would think you can find something nice for 500 or less. Quality has gone down on all that stuff imo and I wouldnt spend even 500. Stuff just isnt built to last like it used to be

Willie I just took a look at best buy online. Noce sound bar systems for 150 or so and the thing I like is they are wireless. I have had good luck with sony and samsung and they have tons of options for both. 500$ seems real doable

The simplest and best I would imagine is SONOS - it's wireless and you can always add speakers to the other rooms or outside at a later point - and it's only about $1000 or so

I know there are awesome systems out there, I just think I can be very happy spending less

We all have different tastes and lifestyles, I may spend more on something else

I agree, I have relatively inexpensive soundbar (LG) for my computer and it's great for me. I do want something a little better for my TV
