whoops. That title should say CHEAP in there somewhere. I know how to find expensive last minute tickets.
Are we stuck still using kayak?
Like a day or two ahead of time.
The only input you need is the departure city and date/time. Those must exist.

I think the airlines basically have you by the short hairs if you need to book last-minute.

honestly, all of the short cuts I used to know, no longer work.

I've learned of the discount airlines that usually fly to where I want to go, and I book through them. I've flown round trip for $150ish bucks quite often last couple years.

Airlines seem to somehow have regulated this. Its rare to barely find a few dollar difference between sites anymore.

I have friends that say if you travel Light... Spirit Airlines has all those $19 flights + Taxes, and a couple of times a year $1.00 Flights, etc..
But they get you for everything... including Water ! and you can't pick your seat.
I would Never use them. ( Just me i guess )

I prefer JetBlue ... and they run specials all the time. Since I travel a lot between NY and FL, I haven't paid more then $89 each way. Had a few $59 & $69 Flights
and last Halloween ( Oct 31st ) I paid $31 from NY to FL

yeah...think these tix are all gone. airlines would rather have open seats than 50-75% discounts.

not worth the flack from the higher paying customers I suppose. Oh well

Sign up for Frontier, Spirit and whatever discount airliners fly from your airport. they run flash sales constantly..

I literally flew to Chicago for $39 each way

IMO flight cost are down quite a bit.. i'm guessing the health of the economy plus cheap fuel. but flying doesn't seem near the charge as it once was

Tickets in general should really be a lot cheaper with cheap fuel going on right now and none of them hedging it big time.
They are all making bank.

Beat sell of the year is coming up in early/mid june...with southwest.

Skyscanner

I knew I had heard of this before...nothing under $230 from Dallas this weekend. If this is accurate...bleh.
Cheap to me is under $200 a ticket to a coast state because I'm centrally located in Dallas.
Not to mention SW and AA hq are here...so the discounts should really be here for us...but they aren't

A couple of days ago, even SW priced me at $1600 for two tix to Boston for this weekend. haha

I fly a LOT, ticket prices have held pretty steady over the last 3 years. At least from what I've observed.

If anything I think they're up.

I always fly Delta for work as we have to book through orbitzforbusiness and SW is not on there, the Delta hub is in ATL, and that's where I have good frequent flier status. But I've been flying SW more and more for personal flights. Good prices and superior customer service, and on-board live TV.
