Italian dressing is great.

Not real big on steak sauce but tried some at from the Old Homestead in NY and it was off the charts.

krackman is right - but not every one.

the only one i truly recommend is "Wish Bone" - and "Robusto Italian" works best. Kraft italian dressing are more oil than spices and really don't do anything to the meat.

also - when i do use italian dressing, i pour some in a cup and then add a little Soy Sauce in the mix. you can also add a FEW drops of honey and it is really good.

i also like to use Lawry's marinade - the kind you buy right off the shelves - with teriyaki being my fave.

when i make a london broil i use either of the above - since you MUST marinade that piece of meat - and i usually do it a few days in advance, poking holes in the meat at night and then in the morning and relayering it with marinade.

OK GENERAL, IT ALL DEPENDS WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO MARINATE. WHAT CUT OF MEAT THAT IS.

SKIRT STEAKS...SOY SAUCE, FRESH GARLIC, HONEY AND OLIVE OIL

FILETS JUST GARLIC AND OLIVE OIL

ANY TOUGH CUT OF MEAT OR LOW GRADE OF MEAT A GOOD MARINADE IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT IS ORANGE JUICE OR PAPYA JUICE IT WILL BREAK DOWN ALL THE MUSCLE IN THE MEAT AND MAKE IT TENDER. AND IT WILL NOT PICK UP THE SWEET TASTE.

HOPE THIS HELPS.................G.

I am looking at a nice ribeye and a big round steak. The round steak is more like roast material, but cooked right and with a nice bottle of sauce, it can be a good steak I think.

if you can ever FIND this brand buy it immediately

"DALES" comes in a plastic container at about 12 oz per bottle, Looks as DARK as ROOT BEER

You do not need a lot, and I mean 3 tablespoons for one stake. This product takes the worst peice of meat and turns into a FILET

I think moreso than the flavor, I am looking for nice marinades that will result in good tender meat as well.

General

If you will beat your meat that will make it tender, very tender. Not surprisingly, the more you beat your meat the more tender it becomes.

Hope this helps!

I'll leave that to the cook. She does well in that area.

I do use a hammer with spikes on my meat though. It does seem to help.

For Steak ( Carne Asada ), you can try some Chef Merito Adobo Seasoning with some Sunny Delight. Yeah that's right, some good ol' Sunny D. Marinate for a few hrs. before throwing it on the grill....works on chicken too.
