Great advice. Dante works out at my gym so I'd expect nothing less.

PS, you'll be really surprise how full you get from a freakin rice cake or two after a few days of doing the smaller portions. I used to eat like 3 fast food burgers a meal and now can barely eat 1 before I'm full. You just have to get your stomach used to it and throw in some exercise here and there and the pounds will drop.

This is a post from hippieki11er in a similar thread I started a month ago. I have since lost 8-9 pounds basically following this advice. I have more energy. I have a new hobby and I feel 100% better. I cant wait to go to the gym tomorrow.

It will easily happen by August if you do the following:

1. Stop only running, you're putting your body into a catabolic state.

2. Lift weights first and then do 20-30 minutes of HIIT cardio max.

3. Clean up your diet. Eat a mixture of the following

- Turkey
- Chicken
- Tuna
- Lean beef
- Salmon
- Oats
- Beans
- Hummus
- Quinoa
- Broccoli, green beans, and carrots
- Olive oil
- Almonds and/or mixed raw nuts
- Low fat cheese
- Light mayo
- Blueberries, cranberries, and raspberries
- Greek yogurt
- Honey
- Green tea

Don't eat processed carbs.. crackers, cookies, dry pasta, etc.. anything that comes in a box. Also, avoid enriched flour and even wheat if you can.

And don't be afraid of fat. Fat doesn't make you fat, excess calories do.

Shoot for either a 50/30/20 or 40/40/20 % ratio (Fat/Protein/Carbs).

I know I think that would be the toughest. How long do the hunger pains last?
It's up to you. When I was going from 192 to 173 not too long ago I used to make myself so hungry I would slam my hand on my desk while I was working the forum. I knew if I was hungry my body was eating at my fat to get fed.

I know this is completely wrong but thats what I did this time around. I often go 12-16 hours without eating (including sleep)

Small meals a day and exercise. That's all it takes. Starving yourself just makes the process a complete fucking pain in the ass. Bowl of cereal in the morning, 4 string cheese a few hours later, Subway 6 incher for lunch, Chicken breast and corn for dinner, maybe a granola bar or something an hour or two before you go to sleep. Throw in 30-60 minutes of exercise a day and the pounds will come off easily. Hell, just walk a few miles a day and they'll come off. I rode 10 miles on a bike today in 29 minutes and that is good enough for exercise most days.

A couple more things I can add from my experience.

1. Baby steps. Getting started is the hardest part. When I first started working out I could only last 10 minutes doing cardio. Take it one day at a time. Try to do a little more each day.

1a. This applies to your diet as well. You will learn more about what to eat and what not to eat every day (example: 2 weeks into my diet I replaced the milk in my oatmeal with water. saved 100 calories, tastes the same). Eating well will become enjoyable and you will probably lose the cravings for that greasy nasty food you are used to.

2. Get a "staple"- "go to ", meal in your diet. Someting that is good for you. Something you enjoy and something that is easy to prepare. Mine is chicken, green beans and any other vegetable side. I eat this 3-4 times a week.

3. Eat breakfast every day. This sets you up for the rest of the day.

4. Be patient. You will not lose 10 pounds in 10 days if you are doing it the right way. From everything I have read 2 pounds a week is more like it. Figure out how many calories you should take in a day (there are all kinds of websites that can help you with this). Try to take in 300-500 calories less a day and try to burn off another 300-500 or more at the gym. However do not count every calorie (this will drive you crazy) just know that when you do have a bad day you have to bounce back the next day.

5. Do not weight yourself every day. This will frusterate you. Some days you might gain a pound and some days you might lose 2 pounds. This has to do with water weight or something. Weight yourself once a week.

6. Dont cut carbs completely out of your diet but be very aware of them.
7. Water. Lots of it.
