Nice hit Phaedrus. What is GP? Did you have more than one.
I'd say I had a lot of success market timing the international funds before all the new restrictions came down.

Next goal is to buy into GW Pharmacueticals out of the UK, as they are about to release the first cannabis-based spray (Savitex) for general medical use.

Starbucks coffee stock. It's beyond me why people line up to pay 4 bucks a pop for this stuff, but the thing keeps shooting up.

Hey Pancho, I was long the same market in spring 1994, when the frost in Brazil did a number on the crop.

Prices went from $.70 to $2.60 in about 7 weeks.

At $375 per penny, per contract.......oh, Daddy was that sweet.

I missed the 94 coffee bull market but remember it well.

If memory serves, it was around June 94, prices doubled in about a month.

I got in late 96 at about 110 and got out at about 250 around June 97, I kept rolling my contracts over since the thing kept rising. I remember it touched 300 shortly after then retreated big time.

I just wish I had caught last years soybean bull market.

In 1999, I took out my savings of $1,500 from Ameritrade and put it all on Budroyale in the Breeders Cup CLassic. He was 27-1 that day. My good friend owned him, my best friend trained him, and I was around him for 7 days straight.I was in beautiful Miami for a week. It was awesome. The horse almost won. He came in second that day and I cashed my tickets for about $7,000. That was all the money in the world to me at the time. If the horse had won, I had him in some SICK one way exactas that would of paid serious coin. The winner was 43-1. So if you flip flpo those....27-1 winner, and 43-1 second place and the favorite out of the money....oh man.
Anyway, Budroyale provided many great memories for me, including some financial ones.

BTW...Cat Thief(the winner of the classic) never came back to win again...and Bud kicked his ass in the very next race!!

GP=General Partnership. Was a fairly popular way of raising investment capital for a while, athough you don't see it so often these days.

Just had the one unit -- I was only seventeen at the time so was not exactly rolling in liquid capital.

I started investing at fifteen, mostly in commodities futures, and did fairly well. I think that probably my other great success was Wal-Mart stock, which I put nearly every dime I could spare into between 1987 and 1991, which has paid off handsomely over the years.
