Catfish Hunter? He was a starter.

You thinking Rollie Fingers?

For the guy who asked who Moe is: Moe is one the three stooges or the bartender on The Simpsons. Mo is Mariano Rivera's nickname.

Told my wife a few years back that I will be at Mariano's induction into the HOF. She better not give me sh!t when I pack the car for the drive to Cooperstown.

K-Rod, lights out this year and he may have had some inflated save numbers last year but he has the filthiest stuff in baseball.

Heath Bell

With his 16 career saves. :missingte
Bell has been closing games for a total of 2 months in his career, Mo has 34 saves in the *post season* alone.

Heath Bell.

Mariano never saved 42-42 and won a World Series in the same year like Brad Lidge...

But I agree, Mo will go down as one of the top three closers in history...maybe the best besides Rollie Fingers and Goose..

when you think of closers who comes to mind??? end of discussion...if you have watched baseball for the past 15 years no one is in the same category as MO. Everyone will have a good year here and there but NO ONE will keep it up year in and year out.

This is when you know you are the best...when you have a blown save it is a BIG DEAL and HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I have watched every Yankee game for the past ten years and when he blows a save everyone is shocked. When someone else blows a game the fans usually just go oh well it happens. This is a laughable question IMO

Lidge is one guy who doesn't get much love and deserves it. He had numerous HUGGGGGE saves last year. I mean it wasn't just a NYM collapse. Phils rising to the top of that division had A LOT to do with Lidge...People like to forget about how good he is

Here's the thing with Lidge, he's Jekyll and Hyde.
Like the girl with the curls, when he's good, he is very good..........
Two things, two very big things, he has a fragile psych, he had a mental breakdown which took a long time to get over after Pujols schooled him.
Case in point, after losing the WS in 2005,(a series where he wasn't very good by the way) what happened to him in 2006?
11 wild pitches that season in 75 innings pitched. WTF is that?
4 batters hit. WTF is that?
1.4 ratio. WTF is that, 1-4 WL record, 7.20 ERA, ummm you get the idea.
He has a Donny Moore psych, and he blew his brains out over Henderson's tater in 1986.

The second thing is steroid allegations.
Can't overlook that.

Bring up a very good point and we are seeing the same thing with Greinke in KC. If he takes his mental pills he is an ace...if he forgets to take his meds and you see him tweaking and sniveling out there then he is fucked....looks like management finally figured that out and give him his meds with bkfast every morning...he will have 20 wins with well over a month to go...and thats saying ALOT playing in KC
