Going undefeated is tough today especially in 'big boy' football, but it's not all that uncommon. There have been 15 undefeated over the past 15 years. First it takes some good players with chemistry, a good schedule and some good luck. This season, there may be one or two teams who run the table without a loss...then again there may be none.

If you had to pick a team or teams who have a good chance to have a perfect season...who would it be?

MARSHALL would be my pick, especially if I had to bet my ole coffee pot.

That schedule is easy, easy, easy for a team returning pretty solid talent. A JUCO will replace the Herds record
setting QB. RB Devon Johnson (1,767 yards) and several talented receivers return and will aid the new quarterback.
The two problem games may be the first (Purdue) and last (Western Kentucky).

When a sat back and recounted in my head I could only think of 14 but then looking it up I had forgotten Ohio St was undefeated in 2012.

It is much more difficult to go undefeated now. An undefeated G5 school was not guaranteed a premier game in the past (98 Tulane, 99 Marshall) but now they are almost locked in should they run the table in the regular season. It's considerably tougher for P5 schools now too because the playoff is now two rounds. Scheduling, notably bye weeks become even more important than in the past.

The SEC is deeper than ever with potentially all seven west schools being top 25 caliber plus a couple in the East with an upward trajectory. I can't see a team get out of the SEC undefeated. It would take a school like Ohio St where they are a talented team with a lean schedule for a P5 to be undefeated at year's end.

I've said this before but every champion in the BCS and CFP eras have had a top 10 recruiting class on their championship roster. I continue to use this as a guide when thinking of teams that could win the title. This eliminates Baylor, TCU, Mich St, Oregon, Boise... I just can't see anyone other than Ohio St or SEC winning it this year. With OSU as the only team with the firepower and schedule to run the table. If Western Kentucky didn't play LSU I would mention them but no G5 has the firepower this year unless Boise slides in and plays another weak P5 school in the Fiesta like they did last year.

CFB, good read. You mentioned Boise State, the Broncos would probably be my second pick.

I can't see any team in the SEC going undefeated...conference play just too damn difficult.

The SEC West regressed sharply in the Bowl Season last year, so they are out. The SEC East is simply a bunch of good teams, but none who can run the table. The Pac 12 has the same problems, except they did much better than the SEC did in the bowl games. Still, with USC and Oregon playing on the road against Notre Dame and Michigan State, plus each other, plus the possibility of each other again, plus Stanford, it is too much to ask. Ohio State should have smooth sailing all the way into their 11/21 date at home against Michigan State. If they win that one, they should be home free. I would take Ohio State because of the easy schedule they face. The Big 12 has TCU and Baylor, but with no CC game do they really count? Still, the winner has a shot at running the shortened table because much like Ohio State, they play a cream puff non-con schedule. I think the Big 12 Conference is tougher overall than the teams that Ohio State plays from the Big 10 so I still give the edge to Ohio State.

Ohio State, no doubt about it. Weak conference, weak OOC schedule. Perfect formula.

Alabama and Oklahoma have ZERO chance. 'Bama goes to both Georgia and Auburn. OU is not nearly as good as needed and plays games at Baylor, TCU and at Okie State in their last 3 weeks. They will do well to win one of those games, much less all three.

Little side bet for you Coach. I will bet you $100 to $1.00 that a team in Florida wins its 25th straight opener. You are not
allowed to do any research on this one. DO WE HAVE A WAGER MY FRIEND???

I agree with this. Plus besides the SEC, the Pac-12 is pretty top heavy too. So it's going to be tough to come out of it undefeated. The problem with the Big 12 this season is all of the top teams play each other in November. I don't know if that was a scheduling quirk or a made for TV move. But it's going to be a free for all in that month between TCU, OU, Baylor & OSU. Which is why the Big 12 remains the hardest conference to go undefeated in...

Crunch, taking your likelihood approach: I would go Marshall (everyone thinks offense but will have the best defense in the conference) as my first, Boise second, TCU third, Baylor forth, Ohio State fifth, Michigan State sixth, Oregon or UCLA next (even though I think Stanford wins conference) and Georgia as the sleeper.

I would love the Tide to go undefeated but can't see it with there schedule. Bama may lose one or maybe two at the most but will be in the title picture once its all said and done.

Eight, I'm a senior, been through much I wish never happened. I have NEVER been a part of DRUGS in my life...NEVER.

Whiskey and beer and gambling....I'm your man. Been there and done that...over and over and over. Not proud at times.

Nothing personal...but if Clemson goes undefeated...might just try a drug or two.
