Wow.....these results are surprising to me. I thought Jordan would take it, although I knew Bo and Barry Sanders would be in the mix, along with some track & field athletes.

Updated tally........

Bo Jackson (7)
Barry Sanders (2)
Edwin Moses (1)
Michael Johnson (1)
Shaq Diesel (1)
Wayne Gretzky (1)
Pedro Martinez (1)
Willie Mays (1)
Michael Jordan (1)

While Peppers is a better athlete, I will go with Bo because he had a bigger margin of greatness over his competition.

None of the baby-boomers for Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Jim Brown? How about Wilt the Stilt? Carl Lewis? Dr. J? Dominique Wilkins? Magic or Bird? Kobe, Garnett, Iverson? Elway? Montana? Jerry Rice?

John Daly? Phil Helmuth? Anybody?

Bo Jackson.
I met him after the Alabama/ Auburn game a few weeks back.. He looks like he could still play today. The guy was solid as a rock and a really classy man.

Cal Redwood - Thanks for saying what you did. I definitely got my love of sports from the old man. Sorry to hear about your dad. I'd like to think the 2 of them are having a laugh together over this thread.

Hitman - I think Dusty is going to make a comeback and beat Bo Jackson in the popular vote here.

It looks like, going off of the responses thus far, that in the last 30 years or so, Bo Jackson seems to be the overwhelming favorite. I think it's generational though -- the baby-boomers and the.........wise old owls ("walked to school in the snow era")........might be the ones that have something to say about it. Some support for Thorpe, Ruth, Jim Brown, etc.

I was campaigning for Phil Helmuth too, but I guess he's not as good of an athlete as I thought. Greg Raymer maybe????
