[h=1]'Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination': Sanders concedes to Hillary at New Hampshire rally and endorses her general election bid[/h]

By REUTERS and FRANCESCA CHAMBERS, WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENT
PUBLISHED: 16:36, 12 July 2016 | UPDATED: 17:33, 12 July 2016

Bernie Sanders conceded the Democratic race today and endorsed Hillary Clinton at a rally in New Hampshire.
'Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination,' Sanders told a cheering audience. 'And I intend to do everything I can to make sure she will be the next president.'
Sanders recapped his campaign and the many states and delegates he won over the six-month primary. Unfortunately, he said, it was not 'enough' to win.
'Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president, and I am proud to stand with her today,' Sanders said after promising to campaign in every corner of the country to keep Donald Trump from winning the November election.

Sanders said, 'Its no secret that Hillary Clinton and I disagree on a number of issues; that is what this campaign has been about, that is what democracy is about.'
But he said their campaigns had a 'significant coming together' over the weekend at the party's final platform committee hearing before the nominating convention in two weeks in Philadelphia.
Sanders told a rowdy audience, 'I have known Hillary Clinton for 25 years, we were a bit younger then.
'I remember her as a great first lady who broke precedent in terms of the role that a first lady is supposed to play. She helped me to fight for universal healthcare.'
Clinton said it was a great privilege' to be with her former rival at the event.
'I can't help but reflect how much more enjoyable this election is going to be now that we are on the same side, because you know what we are stronger together.'
The former U.S. senator and secretary of state said she and Sanders were joining forces to defeat Donald Trump. In an ode to Sanders' primary slogan she added, 'And yes, together, build a future we can all believe in.'
'Just as Bernie said, over the years I've gotten to know him as a a colleague and a friend. His reputation for passionate advocacy hasn't always made him the most popular person in Washington.

She said, 'But you know what, that's generally a sign you're doing something right.'
Sanders brought people off the sidelines and into the political process, she observed.
'So thank you, Bernie for your endorsement,' Clinton said, saluting the Vermont senator. ''Thank you for a lifetime of fighting injustice. I am proud to be fighting alongside you.'
Sanders said today that he was ready to endorse Hillary Clinton, his supporters on the other hand are not.
Holding up baby-blue 'Bernie' signs from his primary campaign, Sanders supporters repeatedly interrupted Democratic officials tasked with bridging the gap between the two campaigns before they took the stage.
'BERNIE,' they shouted over and over. As New Hampshire Gov. and Senate candidate Maggie Hassan told them it was time to send a message the party is 'united and strong' one audience member shouted back, 'No, it's not.'

New Hampshire borders Sanders' home state of Vermont and the senator bested Clinton there by 22 points in the influential state that historically holds the first primary in presidential election years.
'I have come here to make it as clear as possible as to why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton and why she must become our next president,' Sanders said.
Sanders' endorsement brought the most prominent holdout in the party's liberal wing into Clinton's camp less than two weeks before the opening of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, where Clinton is expected to become the party's nominee.
Clinton hopes the joint appearance will help her win over Sanders supporters, some of whom carried Sanders signs into the rally and frequently drowned out her supporters. In recent Reuters/Ipsos polling, only about 40 percent of Sanders backers said they would back Clinton, and the crowd at Tuesday's rally made it clear she still had work to do.
'I am absolutely certain I will not vote for Hillary Clinton,' said Gale Bailey, a Sanders supporter and an unemployed graphic designer from Rochester, New Hampshire, who attended the rally in a Sanders T-shirt.
'She's a crook, and I'm not going to vote for a crook,' Bailey said, adding that she would write in Sanders' name on the November ballot.

UNEASY?: 'Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination,' Sanders told a cheering audience. 'And I intend to do everything I can to make sure she will be the next president'

The appearance in Portsmouth concluded weeks of negotiations between the two camps as Sanders pressed for concessions from Clinton on his liberal policy agenda.
It came after Clinton last week adopted elements of Sanders' plans for free in-state college tuition and expanded affordable healthcare coverage. Sanders also successfully pushed to include an array of liberal policy positions in the Democratic platform, which a committee approved on Saturday.
Sanders did not win all of his policy fights, most notably failing to win support for blocking a vote in Congress on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
But he told reporters at the rally in Portsmouth that 'our job now is to see that platform implemented by a Democratic Senate, a Democratic House and a Hillary Clinton president - and I am going to do everything I can to make that happen.'
Top Democrats, including President Barack Obama and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, a favorite of the party's liberal wing, have already announced their support for Clinton, leaving Sanders at risk of being left behind in the Democratic battle against Trump.
'I think all signs point to the fact that we're going to have a very united party going into Philadelphia,' Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said on CNN earlier on Tuesday, 'and when you compare it to the Republicans, we're going to be miles ahead of them.'
Trump has struggled to unify the Republican Party after alienating many establishment figures with his stances on immigration, Muslims and women. A number of prominent Republicans are skipping the party's convention in Cleveland next week.
In another sign of the Democrats' growing unity, two prominent liberal groups that had backed Sanders, the Communications Workers of America labor union and the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, announced their support for Clinton on Monday.
The congressional group is led by two of Sanders' biggest backers in Congress: Raul Grijalva of Arizona, who already had endorsed Clinton, and Keith Ellison of Minnesota.
New Hampshire is where Sanders first served notice of the strength of his campaign by beating Clinton handily in the primary.
In 2008, Clinton and Obama held their first joint rally in the state after his victory in that brutal primary race. To make sure everyone got the point, it took place in the town of Unity.

UPDATE: Despite endorsement, Sanders delegates vow to hold DNC ‘fart-in’ anyway!

JULY 12, 2016
BY KYLE OLSON

The beans have already arrived, Bernie Sanders supporters say, and they vow their planned “world’s largest fart-in” will go on — regardless of his endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

Hillary-Clinton-hold-nose-400x300.jpg

Cheri Honkala, head of Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign, is organizing the world’s largest “fart-in” to be held on July 28 at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center during Hillary Clinton’s anticipated Democratic nomination acceptance speech.

“We will be holding a massive bean supper for Bernie Sanders delegates on American Street in my Kensington neighborhood on the afternoon of July 28,” Honkala said, TruthDig reported last month.

“We are setting up a Clintonville there, modeled on the Hoovervilles of the 1930s where the poor and unemployed built shanty towns. The Sanders delegates, their bellies full of beans, will be able to return to the Wells Fargo Center and greet the rhetorical flatulence of Hillary Clinton with the real thing.”

Activists have invited Bernie Sanders to join their bean supper, which Honkala has dubbed “Beans for Hillary.”

“Any remaining beans will be served to the homeless, although we will, of course, be urging Sanders delegates to eat as much as possible,” she said.

Since then, Sanders has endorsed Clinton, seemingly taking the wind out of the protesters’, um, sails.

But they vow to make a stink, anyway.

US News reports:

Boxes of dry beans and heavy containers of canned beans already have arrived by mail, Honkala says, in all varieties: navy, pinto, lima and baked, with return addresses in Texas, Wisconsin and across the Rust Belt.

“Those beans will probably quadruple” after Sanders’ endorsement, Honkala says.

Many Sanders supporters “are not happy” about the two major party candidates, she says. “They do not represent the American people. It’s like they’re reality-show characters, two villains who can’t be trusted.”

Organizers have not tested varieties to discern the smelliest option, but Honkala says baked beans likely will be preferred and paired with hot dogs at a feeding location in a “Clintonville” camp in northern Philadelphia.

A second feeding location is likely to be at the group’s office a few blocks from the convention venue for delegates, journalists and others heading into the speech.

“It shows the level of absolute disgust that we’re at – we think we’re going to remember 2016 as the year we begin to bury the two corporate political parties,” Honkala tells the magazine. “It’s really a shame – this whole thing does stink. Democrats and Republicans are like Pepsi and Coke. They listen to corporations and they don’t listen to anti-poverty activists.”

I lost all respect for Sanders on this, I was hoping he would stay in and fight the good fight. He was fighting for almost everything Hillary is about, now to sell out like this shows the kind of person he really is. Sad day in politics.

Had it been Sanders vs Trump, I would have had a really hard time deciding on who to vote for. To me, this election is all about "Anyone but Hillary", I would have been on the fence on who to vote for. Now its just easy.

I thought he would have fought the good fight against the establishment , and railed against the corruption.... but it just shows that he was weak now, and does as he is told, just like the other politicians.
