Some of my biggest paydays at the track have been on races just like today's Belmont. There is no doubt Big Brown will be the overwhelming favorite but we all know this is horse racing and anything can happen.
Having said that, I think BB should win the race but I got $504 burning a hole in my pocket looking for a huge payoff. I am thinking of a 9-horse trifecta box.
Now I know this may not be the wisest bet but the $504 certainly will not kill me so I will be going to my local OTB and throwing BB out of my 9 horse box. I considered paying the extra ($720) and include him but that won't pay shit so that is out. This is by no means 'handicapping' but a potential large payoff and that is what I'm looking for.
Good Luck
Just noticed Casino Drive is scratched...my investment now is $336.
It's easy to laugh after the race is over. Congrats to him for a nice score but if you box the entire field in the tri whenever there's a huge favorite you're going to lose serious bucks. The 20% or higher takeout combined with the exponential growth of your ticket cost will crush you; you might get lucky in the short term but in the long run you'll lose.
the tri payout yesterday was a joke. can't believe people haven't raised more questions about it.
Why ?
I may be wrong, if so I'll learn something.
The trifecta payout was reduced because the pool was distributed to two winning numbers, right ?
Boxers got both payouts, but if no dead heat, they get one larger payout. It would depend which horse got the show without the DH to an extent, but if they were bet equally for tri, then no difference.
correct ?
