Don't believe so.........but it forced his retirement in my opinion.

BRANDON INGE is very similar to Boone.........before and after.

Met INGE at a bar in spring training four years ago in Lakeland and NO WAY was he even NEAR the size he is now. At the time, INGE was on the borderline if he was going to be a career AAA player or be a regular in the big leagues.

Sort of hate to be calling the guy out on this as he was very good people from what I gathered in the short time I met up with him.

2 things:

1)there is a story that goes around Detroit that Inge can hit a golf ball a ridicoulus distance. He supposedly is this great natural athlete (I don't see it) but the announcers in town bring it up all time. Sort of a similar thing (golf and hitting). He must have strong legs or good hip rotation.

2) he is (IMO) the most overrated player possibily in baseball. Not saying people thing he is that good but I really think if you watch him you will understand what I mean. He knows that he is the weak link of the Tiger regulars. He knows he can't hit over .270 so he tries extra hard to hit homers and that is justify by his real long swing and his high strikeout total (avg 1 k in 4 ab's). Also his defense is very shoddy (11 errors). I think he knows if he concentrates on the long ball and puts up decent homerun numbers than he becomes like a Dave Kingman type (sorry best I could think of) and no one talks about how poor he has played because they ALWAYS point to his HR numbers and how that is a ton from a 9th place hitter.. He has become all or nothing (.220 hitter) who looks like he is trying for a homer everytime.

I know what you are saying about a few years. I was watching highlights of the Tigers for a few years ago the other night and it showed him and the first thing I though was how skinny he was. Good call. I have never thought of this. Maybe it's his little kid face(looks like he is 15) He was the catcher back then, maybe he felt he needed to be smaller.

After the latest revelation a couple weeks ago regarding human growth hormone (HGH) and it being impossible to detect by the MLB current testing, you would have to believe the game is almost as dirty today as it was 4 years ago.

beleive me I love all the Tigers. It just baffles me that people in this town gives him so much love, I guess it is because he seems like a nice guy. The Tigers are a playoff caliber team and he is the weak link of the club (but let me guess, he does have 16 HR's). I didn't think say there isn't a role for him (utility guy) that he would do great in. Just need to upgrade at 3rd.

watching Inge play 3rd base today as good as anyone in the league...even his counterpart Rolen! He made today's top play earlier and just made a diving stop of a pujols shot down the line that saved a run. He is a very fine defensive 3rd baseman from what i've seen today

watch all year. He has played well today and actually played better in that few weeks. But he has 11 errors this year and 23 last year. Has struggled at times with routine plays.

Don't let 1 game fool you, he is a below average defensively on routine plays. He does have a strong arm (former catcher)

I watch the Tigers every day. I also live in Toledo, and saw Inge play in person about 40 times in 2002 and 2003. I haven't noticed any significant change in his size. If anything, he may have gotten leaner switching from catcher to third.

I say above average defensively at third.
